Protest day is pouring in.

================================================================
Dear friends, 23rd May 2010

I am happy to thank IVLN Chari, Ananth Rayulu, Dr. Sajjan Singh, Nityanandam
and Ramakrishna Savaram for extending support to the proposed Senior Citizens'
National Protest Day [SCNPD] on August 16.and rejecting the effort to attribute a
motive to it that it is an effort to gain recognition as NAOP.

It shows that we Elders are united when it comes to a common cause, though we
may be belonging to different Associations, Federations or Confedrations. I am
therefore, confident that this joint effort by all Senior Citizens of the Country will
be a success and we will be able to make the required impact on our Rulers.

We have today received two more mails, one from Dr. Indira Jai Prakash, one of
our respected Advisors who has very ably analysed the purpose of SCNPD, and
the other from Er. Maheshwari ji extending the support of Bharat Pension Samaj.

I am reproducing them here for your information.

Warm regards,
R.N.Mital

Senior protest day is not an issue raised to butter our own interests. why can not
people understand that for decades NPOP is sitting on the shelf and now
government wants to dust it a little. if at this point of time, senior citizens do not
voice their concern and in unanimous voice protest against the apathy of the
government, the policy will return to the shelf. why this resistance to protest? if
one says seniors should not protest it implies we have to be passive recipients of
whatever is doled out whenever and in whichever way. there is nothing wrong in
all senior citizens' clubs and organizations coming together, observe a day of
protest to draw attention to lacunae. everyone should remeber that it is for the
future, future of milions of people who will turn 60 soon enough. if the present
does not act, the future may be too unempowered to act at all.

people who are comfortable, well off or ,who were in power or in power should
not cast aspersions on associations which are genuinely trying to improve the
quality of life of senior citizens. this is something that affects millions, majority
below the poverty line.

Dear Sh. R.N. Mittal & Dr P Vyasamoorthy,
I never had the intention of hurting any one . I am really sorry, if I have done so.
NAOP had been an aspiration of AISCCON over the years and many of us among
Pensioners organizations had a notion that NAOP had been one of the reasons which after
signing ‘Hyderabad declaration’ led away AISCCON from NASCAI.
As on behalf of BPS, I shoulder the responsibility of co ordination with Sr Citizen
Organization, it was rather necessary to ally the suspicion. However, after going through
all the posts on http://scnpd.posterous.com/ and e-mails every thing is clear.
On behalf of BPS, as well as RREWA, I have already assured you & Mr .K.R.
Gangadharan of unconditional support for the cause of Sr. Citizen’s. In fact BPS had been
a pioneer for the unity of Sr. Citizens & Pensioners organizations.
Mr. M. Somasekhara Rao Vice President (South Zone) BPS has already been requested to
co-ordinate with you & also to be in touch with Mr . K.R. Gangadharan and as
I understand he has already discussed the issues with you.
Pl. go ahead ,we are with you.
With warm Regards.
Er.S C Maheshwari
