Subject: Letter of intent for study permit

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Rocio Garcia Gamboa, a 22-year-old graduate who currently holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Education from Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa (UAS) in Mexico. My father, Javier Garcia
Hernandez, is an Infantry Captain in the Mexican Armed Forces and my mother, Rocio Gamboa Inda, is a
retired Nurse. The reason why I am writing this letter is to inform you of my interest in applying for a
study permit and continuing my studies in Canada.
I live in a city called Mazatlan, which is one of the most popular resorts and cruise destination cities in
Mexico. Tourists from all over the world annually visit it. Therefore, its main income source and
employment opportunities are provided by tourism. That is why I have applied for a 2 year Diploma
Program in Tourism Management at Capilano University in North Vancouver, British Columbia. And
now that I have been acepted I need a study permit to continue with the registration process.
In January 2015, I completed my undergraduate studies at Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa and worked
for 2 months substituting a fellow teacher at a Elementary School. In April, the same year, I traveled to
Canada to complete a 120-hour instruction-practicum course in Teaching English as a Second Language
(TESL) at Upper Career College of Business and Technology (UCCBT) in Vancouver. After that, I took
IELTS preparation classes because one of the requirements from my University in order to get my degree
was that I had to have a score of 6.0 on IELTS, which I succesfully achieved on my return to Mexico in
September that year and the degree was finally awarded to me in November.
I have been working as a teacher since October and I applied to Capilano University in March 2016.
Although I love teaching I know that I would get better job oportunities here in Mexico if I study
Tourism. I strongly believe that the interpersonal and communication skills I have developed by teaching
and interacting with people and students will make me a perfect candidate to pursue a career in the
Tourism Industry. One of my plans for the future is to start my own business and I would love to combine
my knowledge in both areas and come up with something that helps people learn and travel. There are
some agencies in my current city which do this but they are missing many factors I want to consider for
my own agency. I am very grateful to my parents who have already given me a place to start working in
my city here in Mexico, so the only thing I need now is the correct preparation and knowledge to lead this
project. Since Canada is one of the best well seen countries as for education concerns, I have chosen a
University in Vancouver rather than any other in Mexico. I am sure that this program will not only
provide me with the knowledge and skills but with a sense of respect and consideration from people in
my country. I assure you that I am returning home on the completition of the program because there is no
place I rather work and live than here. Moreover my family lives in Mexico and I am very close to them
so I must come back.
I would really appreciate your consideration of the application for this permit so I can carry on with the
registration process which deadlines is in August 22nd. I have until that day to confirm my arrival in the
city and to pay the 4000CAD that are missing from the first semester tuition.

I have sent the documents that prove the funds available for my 2 year stay in Canada and also my
admission into the University, However, if you have any further question please contact me using the
information provided.
Thank you so much in advance sir/madam.
Sincerely,
Rocio Garcia.
