Dear nextnano users,
we have published a new nextnano update for Windows (nextnanomat, nextnano++, ne
xtnano3).
Once installed, the code improvements are also listed in the changelog_nextnano*
.txt files in your installation folder.
How to install the update?
-

Please uninstall nextnano.

Please delete the folder C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\nextnan


o* (if it exists)
Please rename your folder Documents/nextnano/ to something like Documents/n
extnano_old
If you don t do that, the new sample files will NOT be copied to Documents/
nextnano/nextnano* sample files/

Unzip it.

Install it. This requires about 300 MB disk space.

The included evaluation license is valid until 2015-Sep-30. Please repla


ce it with your license file,
e.g. by copying your license file into your folder Documents/nextnano/Li
cense/license.txt and
adjust the path to the license file in nextnanomat
==> Tools ==> Options ==> License file for nextnano3/nextnano++.

The online documentation is consistent to this update of the software.


If you encounter any inconsistencies, please let us know.

New features:
nextnano++: Overwriting default material parameters in the input file, s
imilar as nextnano3.
nextnanomat: Read in customized material database files
nextnanomat: Comment/Uncomment feature
nextnanomat: Auto complete feature when editing the input file
nextnanomat: Export 2D slices as .vtr format and .png image
nextnano++ now allows to import data from a file (potential, alloy profi
le, strain), similar as nextnano3.
nextnano3/nextnano++: New 2D geometry object polygon
nextnanomat, nextnano3 and nextnano++ support the .vtr (VTK) file format
for 2D/3D simulations
(in addition to the .fld AVS/Express format)
Please let us know if anything does not work as expected! Please also provide fe
edback on things that you are missing.

The nextnano_2015_04_30.zip is just a zip file without installation. You do not
have to uninstall your previous version.
Unzip it anywhere to your disk, e.g. D:\nextnano\update\nextnano3\
Open nextnanomat (nextnanomat.exe) ==> Tools ==> Options ==> Set path to new nex
tnano executable file, e.g. D:\nextnano\update\nextnano3\nn3_64bit.exe
(and analogous for the nextnano++ executable)
Open nextnanomat.exe.
You might want to create a Desktop shortcut to your new nextnanomat executable (
nextnanomat.exe).
You can keep your previous installation.
