This course reviews the major knowledge areas covered in the Fundamentals
of Engineering (FE) Exam with emphasis on Civil Engineering subjects. This
the course will cover all of the 18 knowledge areas, but initially seven topic
areas will be covered.
Mechanics of Materials
Fluid Mechanics
The course will not delve deeply into each topic, and it is assumed that you
have already taken a basic undergraduate course in each topic. Rather, each
section will offer an overview and review of each topic, emphasizing the key
concepts and equations in each one, and then illustrating them with sample
problems.
Much of the relevant material for the exam is covered in the FE Reference
Handbook, available from ncees.org. This handbook will be the only
reference material available during the exam. The content of the manual is
limited, and so limits the scope of the questions and topics covered. Because
the exam format and the handbook are not typical of most engineering
exams that you will have encountered, we first spend some time discussing
the exam format and the manual.

The knowledge areas are then covered in separate modules, each consisting
of multiple videos that average roughly 10 minutes each. In each video, we
first outline the essential concepts and definitions, then give the most
relevant equations, then give example problems that illustrate the main
concepts and also provide practice. The format of the samples is similar to
the exam, i.e. multiple choice with four possible answers. The questions are
possible answers are given, we suggest you pause the video to answer the
question, then restart it to check your answer and see how the problem is
solved and worked.
The course does not have a start and end time nor final exams and quizzes.
Practice exams and further practice questions can be found elsewhere
online. It does not have a time line; the modules can be taken in any order. A
reasonable pace would probably be to plan for about one week per module.
