Method Statement For Temporary Opening

This document provides a method statement for creating a temporary opening in a 61m cast-in-situ deck slab to provide worker access for de-shuttering and ventilation. METHOD STATEMENT FOR TEMPORARY OPENING

1) Introductions:
Providing temporary opening in deck slab of 61m cast-in-situ span for safe access
to worker for doing de-shutter work also to make arrangement of ventilation in
closed box girder

2) Construction Equipment
List of major plant and equipment to be deployed is as under:
a. Electric Concrete chipping machine.
b. Electric drill M/C & grinder.
c. Trowel
d. Mixing Tray

3) Construction Procedure
During deck concreting the temporary man hole as located in sketch no
will be left un-concrete by placing stopper shutter around the manhole. The rebar
arrangement shall be made such that after re-bend of longitudinal & transvers bar
the required lap length shall get 45D plus 20% extra detail reinforcement
arrangement is shown in sketch no.Restatement of temporary man hole will
be done as given bellow
Attending construction joint in second pour concrete of manhole closing. Chip &
remove the existing loose / damaged toppings to arrive at a structurally sound
surface. Care should be taken to chip off loose aggregate hidden below semisecured or apparently sound concrete. All the exposed surfaces that are likely to
undergo repair must be scrubbed off the dust, laitance & other unwanted materials
by wire brushing etc. subsequently formwork shall be erected, ensuring it is firmly
in place, an opening shall be constructed at the top of formwork to ensure the
ease of placing EMACO S466 of BASF. For mixing, hand mixing procedure shall
be adopted. The mixed EMACO S466 shall be poured slowly and continuously,
through the opening at the top of the formwork. EMACO S466 of BASF is selfcompacting and does not require external vibrations. Technical data sheet is
