Genes Reporteros

This document discusses reporter genes that are commonly used in biotechnology and genetic engineering. It provides examples of typical reporter genes such as lacZ, CAT, Gus, GFP, and Luciferase. For each reporter gene, it lists the gene product and describes common assays used to detect expression. It also includes diagrams of luciferase reactions and descriptions of experiments using reporter genes to detect gene expression.

Sites of Noggin Gene Expression

Mouse embryo containing a beta-galactosidase reporter gene replacing the
normal noggin gene. Beta galactosidase is revealed by the blue stain and
indicates sites of expression of the noggin gene in the brain and in the
skeleton. See Brunet, L. J., McMahon, J. A., McMahon, A. P., Harland, R. M.
(1998) Noggin, cartilage morphogenesis, and joint formation in the
mammalian skeleton. Science, 280, 1455-1457.

Mutant and transgenic lines of P. berghei

Generation of a number of mutant, transgenic and knock-out parasite lines
which are used in our studies. For example parasite lines that express
transgenes such as Green Fluorescence Protein (GFP) and Luciferase.
These paraites are used to investigate specific interactions of the parasite
with cells of their hosts.
