Welcome to Bloxport!

Welcome to Bloxport Middle School! We are happy to see that you chose
Bloxport as the school youd like to further your middle school education in!
We hope you enjoy your time here, but we ask that you follow just a few rules.
This way, we can make sure that everyone enjoys this environment and
experience!

The Bloxport Mission

At Bloxport, our mission is to educate the students, of today, while

challenging the mind, body, and soul of each.

Student Code of Conduct

Section 1: Classroom Behavior

When in class, we ask that you stay seated and silent, unless asked to
stand, speak, or if you have a question. Under no circumstances should
you be disobeying the teacher's orders for you to sit, or to stop talking.
You are to listen to the teacher, and follow their directions. There
should be no goofing off, bullying, or any sort of child's play during
time in the classroom.

You will be sent to ALE if you break any of the teacher's rules, or if you
fail to follow his/her directions. You will spend (1) class period in ALE.
Sentence could be extended due to behavioral issues in ALE as well.
Each teacher has a list of rules and expectations for their classroom. All
rules have consequences. These procedures will be explained by each
classroom teacher. In addition to working with the student, teachers
will notify parents/guardians of behavior or discipline concerns.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to follow up on those contacts and
work together with the teacher. If student behavior does not improve,
a conference may be scheduled. In attendance may be principals,
counselors, classroom teachers and of course, the parents/guardians
and the student involved.

Section 3: Cafeteria Behavior

Lunch period is a time for students to eat lunch and visit with friends.
Basic cafeteria rules must be followed.
No cutting in line or eating while in line.
Stealing of food will be dealt with under the theft policy.
No throwing food, paper, cups, etc.
No food or drink is to be taken from the lunchroom.
Students should be seated while eating. Students are responsible
for cleaning the table at which they ate.
The entire table must be clean before any student will be
dismissed from that table.
No littering.
No sitting on tables.
Students are to stay within the designated areas.
Students are expected to arrive at the lunchroom within the normal
five minute passing time.

Section 3: Assembly Behavior

Student assemblies will be scheduled periodically throughout the year

and are intended to be both entertaining and educational. Appropriate
behavior is expected. All school rules are in effect with specific
attention to the following:
No screaming, yelling, booing, or whistling
No stomping on the bleachers or floor
Sit where directed and remain seated until dismissed
Student behavior will be evaluated before each assembly. Any student
causing a disruption or exhibiting inappropriate behavior at an
assembly will be removed from the assembly.

Section 4: Citizenship Policy

At Bloxport MS we follow a very strict citizenship policy. It is as follows:
Outstanding - Student demonstrates self-discipline and
contributes positively to the class. Student also displays qualities
beyond that expected at the particular grade level.

Satisfactory - Student displays conduct and attitude expected at

the particular grade level. Student also responds positively to an
occasional reminder of behavioral expectations.

Needs Improvement - Student displays conduct, attitude, and

behaviors below what is generally expected at the particular
grade level. Students inappropriate behavior also detracts from
the learning environment in the classroom.

Unacceptable - Student behavior is regularly disruptive to the

learning process. Student also does not respond to repeated
measures for correcting poor conduct and/or attitude.
At the end of the day, we hope that each of our students at least FEELS
they are a Satisfactory, or Outstanding. This would mean, you are near

perfection. You listen to the teacher's directions, you stay seated and
silent, you actively participate in the classroom, and you dont goof off,
or mess around while you should be doing work.

Section 5: Hallway Behavior

To maintain order, there will be no running, pushing, or shoving in the
halls. Students should refrain from public display of affection at school.
Students who violate this policy will be disciplined.
Students must use hall passes in all classes. Students without a
pass will be subject to disciplinary action. Hall passes will only be
given out with TEACHER DISCRETION. If they feel that the class
shouldnt receive passes, vice versa, that is there choice.

Section 6: Emergency Procedures

Emergency drills are a serious and necessary part of school procedure.
Therefore, in the interest of student safety, periodic drills are held
throughout the school year for fire, tornado and lockdown emergency
situations. Inappropriate and disruptive behavior during these drills will
result in disciplinary action up to suspension from school as deemed
appropriate by the school administrator.

Section 7: Type of Disciplinary Action

A progressive discipline plan is in effect. Repetitive infractions will
result in more serious consequences. Disciplinary consequences are
guidelines used by an administrator when determining the
appropriateness of consequences to the offense. Consequences can be
greater or less than those listed. The students prior history of
disciplinary incidents may be used in determining consequences.

Parents will be informed and consulted at each stage. Discipline options

include, but are not limited to, lunch detention, after-school detention,
extended detention, and suspension. No disciplinary referrals will be
placed in a students

ALTERNATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: Students in ALE will be

here for one period at a minimum, and will stay for another
extended period and so on if they are not able to contain their
behavior, and follow the instructor's directions. After three strikes
in ALE, the student will be sent to the PRINCIPAL or ASSISTANT
PRINCIPAL(S) and they will decide further punishment.

LUNCH DETENTION: Students serving lunch detention will be

assigned to a supervised area other than the cafeteria in which to
eat lunch. Students who fail to attend will be assigned an
after-school detention. AFTER-SCHOOL

SUSPENSION FROM SCHOOL: Suspension from school may vary

from 1 to 10 days, depending on the severity and/or frequency of
the violation. Suspended students are not allowed on school
property nor admitted to any school function during their
suspension. Students who are suspended may be required to
have a re-entry conference including their parents/ guardians.
Students will only be allowed to return after a successful
conference has been held with administration. Students
suspended during the school day must leave school when the
suspension is imposed. Parents are responsible for transportation
home.

Section 8: Truant from School

Skipping class and/or failing to attend school is considered truancy.
Students found to be truant will be assigned ALE, equal to the number

of school hours the student has missed. If students report to class

more than ten (10) minutes late without appropriate school
documentation, this will be considered a skip and an after-school
detention will be assigned. Students may be assigned to an extended
detention if the number of hours missed is excessive. Additional
offenses may result in the student being suspended from school.

Section 9: Student Harrassment

Bullying is defined as any gesture or written, verbal, graphic, or physical
act (including electronically transmitted acts i.e., internet, telephone
or cell phone, PDA, or wireless hand-held device) that, without regard
to its subject matter or motivating animus, is intended or that a
reasonable person would know is likely to harm one (1) or more
students either directly or indirectly by doing any of the following:
A. substantially interfering with educational opportunities,
benefits, or programs of one (1) or more student;
B. adversely affecting the ability of a student to participate in or
benefit from the school districts educational programs or
activities by placing the student in reasonable fear of physical
harm or by causing substantial emotional distress;
C. having an actual and substantial detrimental effect on a
students physical or mental health; and/or
D. substantial disruption in, or substantial interference with, the
orderly operation of the school.

Bullying can be physical, verbal, psychological, or a combination of all

and/or damaging personal belongings or extorting money;
blocking or impeding student movement; unwelcome physical
contact.

different ways, including but not limited to notes, emails, social
media postings, and graffiti.
