Emergency Towing There are three popular methods of towing a car: Flat-bed Equipment — The operator loads the car on the back of a truck. This is the best way of towing the car. Whee! Lift Equipment — The tow truck uses two pivot ing arms which go under the tires {front or rear) and lifts them off the ground. The other two wheels remain on the ground. NOTICE: On 4WO mode! Never tow your car with the front or rear wheels off the ground and locked on the towing dolly as shown in the iMusteation, ‘This method of towing may damage your car's transmis- sion and the vehicle may jump off the dolly. ‘Sling-type Equipment — The tow truck uses metal ca- bles with hooks on the ends. These hooks go around parts of the frame or suspension, and the cables lift that fend of the car off the ground. The car's suspension and body can be seriously damaged if this method of towing is attempted. If the car cannot be transported by flat-bed, it should be towed with the front wheels off the ground.
