Choke Formula For Oil Rate

The document provides an empirical equation to calculate flow rate from upstream pressure, gas-liquid ratio, and choke size using empirical constants that depend on the correlation used, such as the Gilbert and Ross correlation. The equation allows calculating the flow rate in stock tank barrels per day if the upstream pressure in psia, gas-liquid ratio in standard cubic feet per stock tank barrel, choke size in 64ths of an inch, and empirical constants are known. The document then applies the equation to estimate the flow rate for well SC-A1 during nitrogen injection through coil tubing, with a provided gas-oil ratio of 33 volume/volume.

Estimation of Flow Rate from choke data (Surface data): Well: SC-A1

The following empirical equation is used to calculate flow rate from

upstream pressure, GLR value and choke size.

(1)
Where
A,B,C and D are empirical constants whose values depend on the
correlation used (namely, Gilbert and Ross)

Pi = Pressure upstream of choke, psia.

Ql = flowrate, STB/D
Fgl= gas liquid ratio, scf/stb.
d= chokesize, in terms of /64.
The above equation gives value of Q if all other are known.
GOR : 33 (v/v) taken for estimation
The result for SCA-1 can be tabulated as:

Remarks: Estimated Flow rate is during N2 Injection through coil

tubing.
