The students will be able to research precipitation totals for a chosen city using newspapers and the internet.
The students will be able to create a bar graph or a pie graph using Microsoft Excel.
The students will be able to assess their work using the teacher created rubric.
Assessment Plan

The students will create a graph based on the rubric topics.
The students will self-assess their work using the teacher created rubric.
Materials:
Computer
Newspapers
Teacher created rubric
USB key
Enrichment Techniques:
The students can upload their graph on to the classes website if they have extra time and choose to.
Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students have access to and are able
to participate in the lesson):
If a student requires additional assistance, a special education teacher, paraprofessional, or peer will be assigned to help them.
The student may be provide additional time to complete the assignment. A paper copy of the rubric will be given to the student
prior to starting the lesson.
Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:
The teacher will collect data on all of the students (by age, hair color, eye color, or gender, etc..). The class will create an Excel
graph based on the information collected.
Closure:
The students will open their graph on the classroom computer, using their USB key. The students graph will then appear on the
projector for the class to view. The student will present the data they collected. After each student has presented their work, the
students will complete a self assessment using the teacher created rubric.
