The Negative Colors

Abstract we all know the colors, red, green, etc. But what if
we have more colors than the ones we see every day? We
want to discuss those colors. From now on we just simply
explore some very simple facts (that we all know already) and
then come with some results.
I just want one thing from you: Open your mind. We
ultimately will answer this: What is the color of anything
without light?

I. INTRODUCTION

ets read some well-known facts together. These simple


facts will help us with the understanding of the idea and
what it is all about.
Fact 1:
How we can see anything? Light hits the surface and then
reflects, that reflection reaches our eyes and then we see
objects.
Fact 2:
If we have no lights what so ever, we cant see with our
(unarmed) eyes.
Fact 3:
Whenever we have less amount of light, we see objects darker
and the black color conquers our sight.
Why?
Because if our eyes receive no reflection of light, they cant
see anything, so they replace that area with the black color. As
you can see, if you have a black book and a white book, the
white book will reflect almost all of the lights that hit its
surface while the black book will absorb almost all of the
lights and you see it as a black book. Because of no light!
Another example is space, you see empty area as black
because when you have nothing, you have no reflection. The
idea explains the name of black holes, because they suck all
the lights into themselves and no reflection of them hit your
eyes.
So remember, there is a big difference between the black color
and other colors.
Fact 4:
In the natural light, almost all of us see color of objects the
same. That means if I see a book blue, you will see that book
blue too, so the colors are (almost) constants. There are
exceptions on this matter (for example some people see colors
differently from others because of their visual systems,
different situations, some materials, etc.) that are irrelevant to
this case.

But what if we change the source of light? Will the colors be


the same? We have two common source of light: The Sun and
electricity. The second one made by us and its very similar to
the sun. (Consider common lamps that we use every day at our
homes and consider similarity of their lights). With them the
colors are almost same as with the sun as source. But when we
use an unusual source, like a powerful red light, the colors will
change.
You all know this, this is not a new thing, and this trick is
wildly used in theater to hide something from your eyes.
So colors are themselves constants, on a specific source of
light. If we change that, we have still constant colors that may
be vary from other sources.
Fact 5:
Lets dig in digital world. Computers know lights and they
show them to us. We wont explain the whole system, just a
Glance.
We can see all lights that we can see normally with just three
primary ones: Red, Green and Blue.
The other lights (that we see as colors) are just a combination
of these three. The RGB color model works like this:

With this system we can make 16.7 million colors, More than
we can even diagnose!
If we have all lights on their maximum level (255,255,255),
what do we have? White (all the reflections hit our eyes)
If we have all lights at minimum (0, 0, 0), what do we have?
Black. (None of the reflections hits our eyes).
Thats all we have to know for now. You maybe now guessed
why we chose this title.
II. CONCLUSION
Until now, we all just remembered some facts that we all
know. But we ask you a question:
What is the color of anything without light?
You may answer: black. But remember as we saw earlier,
black is not a color, Its just a cover, a cover that our eyes
proceed to see what they cant see actually. All we cannot see,
we see in black.
Why? Lights and colors are bond to each other. If we have no
source of light (light that our eyes can see) we see nothing (no
colors) but black. Our eyes will see everything in black
because they cant see and precede them in any other colors,

because they have no reflection of lights of a source that eyes
actually can see.
You may answer: thats right, we see them in black but they
are really the same colors as before. We just need some light
to see them.
But really? Arent they bond to the source of light? Arent
their colors different with different sources?
They are the same when the source isnt changing, but not
anymore after that. So what is the real color of anything when
there is no source of light at all?
The objects are in colors we cant see, we cannot understand.
Our eyes dont have access to them and cannot process them.
So they cover it and show it to us in black.
We call them Negative Colors. The true colors of everything,
when there is no source of light.
Why the name negative? RGB color model showed us every
color with a number of three lights like: (12, 212, 118). These
numbers tell us about amount of existence of reflection of a
specific primary light. When there is no reflection, we have
black: (0, 0, 0).
Black is like a border, a line. A line between positive colors
(that we can see) and negative colors (that we cannot see them
and see them as black). Thats why we chose the name:
Negative colors. The colors that dont need any source of light
for their existence.
So anything has a lot of colors that we can see with different
sources, and one true color, one true version, that we cannot
see and even imagine (well, I cant).
From now on, whenever you see something black, think about
the world that is behind that cover. Maybe someday we can
get access to negative colors and see them and surpass
limitations of our eyes and minds.

APPENDIX
This is not a part of the theory. This is just something that
maybe is right or not. Its something that I imagine about
negative colors, about when and how we would see them.
Where can we see objects but we dont have some kind of
source like the sun and stars or electricity?
I can only think of: The beyond. Where there is no stars and
we can see everything. Just think about that when we die, we
dont have our eyes (and their limitations) anymore but we can
see and then we probably have permission to see the true
colors of everything. No more black cover.
And if heaven is built with those colors, I bet they are way
more wonderful and beautiful than our attached colors.
If you believe in a life beyond our world, maybe this make
sense to you. Maybe our souls have that special power to see
true version of anything. And then we can see negative colors,
feel them and enjoy them.

I wrote this when I was 20, this was something that played with
my mind for a very long time. Maybe just with sharing this and
thinking about it, new doors will be open and new visions will
be created. Even a vision to do something to see one true color
of everything. In my mind, they are way beautiful.
