nominationforthepresidencyoftheUnitedStates.
Together,wewillleadourpartybacktotheWhiteHouse,andwewillleadourcountry
backtosafety,prosperity,andpeace.Wewillbeacountryofgenerosityandwarmth.But
wewillalsobeacountryoflawandorder.
OurConventionoccursatamomentofcrisisforournation.Theattacksonourpolice,
andtheterrorisminourcities,threatenourverywayoflife.Anypoliticianwhodoesnot
graspthisdangerisnotfittoleadourcountry.

Americanswatchingthisaddresstonighthaveseentherecentimagesofviolenceinour
streetsandthechaosinourcommunities.Manyhavewitnessedthisviolence
personally,somehaveevenbeenitsvictims.
Ihaveamessageforallofyou:thecrimeandviolencethattodayafflictsournationwill
sooncometoanend.BeginningonJanuary20th2017,safetywillberestored.
Themostbasicdutyofgovernmentistodefendthelivesofitsowncitizens.Any
governmentthatfailstodosoisagovernmentunworthytolead.

Itisfinallytimeforastraightforwardassessmentofthestateofournation.
Iwillpresentthefactsplainlyandhonestly.Wecannotaffordtobesopoliticallycorrect
anymore.

Soifyouwanttohearthecorporatespin,thecarefully-craftedlies,andthemediamyths
theDemocratsareholdingtheirconventionnextweek.

InthePresidentshometownofChicago,morethan2,000havebeenthevictimsof

shootingsthisyearalone.Andmorethan3,600havebeenkilledintheChicagoarea
sincehetookoffice.
Thenumberofpoliceofficerskilledinthelineofdutyhasrisenbyalmost50%

comparedtothispointlastyear.Nearly180,000illegalimmigrantswithcriminal
records,ordereddeportedfromourcountry,aretonightroamingfreetothreaten
peacefulcitizens.

Thenumberofnewillegalimmigrantfamilieswhohavecrossedthebordersofarthis
yearalreadyexceedstheentiretotalfrom2015.Theyarebeingreleasedbythetensof
thousandsintoourcommunitieswithnoregardfortheimpactonpublicsafetyor
resources.

Onesuchborder-crosserwasreleasedandmadehiswaytoNebraska.There,heended

thelifeofaninnocentyounggirlnamedSarahRoot.Shewas21years-old,andwaskilled
thedayaftergraduatingfromcollegewitha4.0GradePointAverage.Herkillerwas
thenreleasedasecondtime,andheisnowafugitivefromthelaw.

IvemetSarahsbeautifulfamily.ButtothisAdministration,theiramazingdaughter
wasjustonemoreAmericanlifethatwasntworthprotecting.Onemorechildto
sacrificeonthealtarofopenborders.Whataboutoureconomy?

Again,Iwilltellyoutheplainfactsthathavebeeneditedoutofyournightlynewsand

yourmorningnewspaper:NearlyFourin10African-Americanchildrenarelivingin
poverty,while58%ofAfricanAmericanyoutharenotemployed.2millionmoreLatinos
areinpovertytodaythanwhenthePresidenttookhisoathofofficelessthaneightyears
ago.Another14millionpeoplehavelefttheworkforceentirely.

Householdincomesaredownmorethan$4,000sincetheyear2000.Our

manufacturingtradedeficithasreachedanall-timehighnearly$800billionina
singleyear.Thebudgetisnobetter.
PresidentObamahasdoubledournationaldebttomorethan$19trillion,andgrowing.
Yet,whatdowehavetoshowforit?Ourroadsandbridgesarefallingapart,ourairports

AnotherhumiliationcamewhenpresidentObamadrewaredlineinSyriaandthe
wholeworldknewitmeantnothing.

broughtdowninflames.Americaisfarlesssafeandtheworldisfarlessstablethan
whenObamamadethedecisiontoputHillaryClintoninchargeofAmericasforeign

ThisisthelegacyofHillaryClinton:death,destructionandweakness.

AnumberofthesereformsthatIwilloutlinetonightwillbeopposedbysomeofour
nationsmostpowerfulspecialinterests.Thatisbecausetheseinterestshaveriggedour
politicalandeconomicsystemfortheirexclusivebenefit.

Bigbusiness,elitemediaandmajordonorsareliningupbehindthecampaignofmy

opponentbecausetheyknowshewillkeepourriggedsysteminplace.Theyare
throwingmoneyatherbecausetheyhavetotalcontrolovereverythingshedoes.Sheis
theirpuppet,andtheypullthestrings.
ThatiswhyHillaryClintonsmessageisthatthingswillneverchange.Mymessageis
thatthingshavetochangeandtheyhavetochangerightnow.EverydayIwakeup
determinedtodeliverforthepeopleIhavemetallacrossthisnationthathavebeen
neglected,ignored,andabandoned.

Ihavevisitedthelaid-offfactoryworkers,andthecommunitiescrushedbyourhorrible
andunfairtradedeals.Thesearetheforgottenmenandwomenofourcountry.People
whoworkhardbutnolongerhaveavoice.

Ihaveembracedcryingmotherswhohavelosttheirchildrenbecauseourpoliticiansput
theirpersonalagendasbeforethenationalgood.Ihavenopatienceforinjustice,no

toleranceforgovernmentincompetence,nosympathyforleaderswhofailtheircitizens.
Wheninnocentpeoplesuffer,becauseourpoliticalsystemlacksthewill,orthecourage,
orthebasicdecencytoenforceourlawsorworsestill,hassoldouttosomecorporate
lobbyistforcashIamnotabletolooktheotherway.

AndwhenaSecretaryofStateillegallystoresheremailsonaprivateserver,deletes
33,000ofthemsotheauthoritiescantseehercrime,putsourcountryatrisk,liesabout
itineverydifferentformandfacesnoconsequenceIknowthatcorruptionhas
reachedalevellikeneverbefore.

WhentheFBIDirectorsaysthattheSecretaryofStatewasextremelycarelessand
negligent,inhandlingourclassifiedsecrets,Ialsoknowthatthesetermsareminor
comparedtowhatsheactuallydid.Theywerejustusedtosaveherfromfacingjustice
forherterriblecrimes.

PresidentoftheUnitedStates:GovernorMikePenceofIndiana.

WewillbringthesameeconomicsuccesstoAmericathatMikebroughttoIndiana.He

isamanofcharacterandaccomplishment.Heistherightmanforthejob.Thefirsttask
forournewAdministrationwillbetoliberateourcitizensfromthecrimeandterrorism
