Wordpress VS Joomla

M. Iqbal Zia Ul Haq / D4 IT B / 2110161034

Wordpress is a free open source content management system (CMS)

based on PHP and MySQL database. Wordpress was released in 2003 by Matt
Mullenwegg. We can use wordpress to create a beautiful website or blog.

Joomla is a free open source content management system (CMS) too.

Written in PHP and store data in a MySQL, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL. It was
object oriented programming (OOP). You can use joomla to build your
website.
Both Wordpress and Joomla are good content management system
(CMS) used to build blog or website. But each of them was designed and
developed by different way. In popularity, Wordpress is the most popular CMS
in the world. With more than 160 million downloads until 2015 while Joomla
only got around 50 million downloads . Beside that, Wordpress has more free
template than Joomla. When a CMS has a lot of templates, its mean user can
customize their website with more design. They can choose a template and
also redesign it or just edit it until they get what they want.
Wordpresss instalation time also faster than Joomlas instalation time.
We just need 5 minute to instal Wordpress while Joomlas instalation time are
5 minute longer than Wordpress. Both instalations interface are user
friendly, so any user are easy to install it. Wordpress is the least hard-tolearn CMS. We dont need expert skill to use and operate it. Joomlas level is
one more step above it. We need more skill to use and operate it.
When someone choose a CMS, not only CMSs popularity that they see
but also suitability aspect. Wordpress is suitable to build blog type website,
information center website, and personal website. Joomla is more suitable to
build comersial website and also e-commerce website. Because Joomla has
more plugin in it. Joomlas update frequency is faster than Wordpress. Joomla
update every 36 days while Wordpress every 42 days.

Summary Wordpress is the best CMS in the world. But every CMS has
different way to create a website, so we can choose our CMS based on what
we need.
