Purpose:

A short statement about what is to be learned or investigated in the lab


activity.

Materials:

List them here with bullets

Procedure:

Write in numbered sequence, the instructions for the lab, OR write refer
to text page ______ in the BC Science ___ textbook, depending on what
your teacher instructs.

Observations: All notes, charts, or sketches you are instructed to make go under this
heading. Any questions you are asked IN THE LAB PROCEDURE get
answered here as well, in sentences.
If there are any observations that do not fit in this space, make a note such
as Refer to Figure ? or Refer to Graph 1.
Label all drawings. Give tables, drawings, graphs, etc a title (underlined).
Discussion:

Questions that are given at the end of the lab AFTER the lab procedure is
completed get answered here. Use FULL sentences and include the
questions in your answers. Try to answer the questions fully, which means
explain and use detail.

Summary:

A summary is a short paragraph with proper sentence structure that


answers the purpose of the lab. The basic structure of a summary is 4 to
8 sentences that sum up what you learned in the lab or describe the process
you were supposed to learn about. Paragraphs should include FACTS, not
opinions. If you personally learned nothing by doing the lab, read up about
the topic in your textbook and then write a paragraph about it. Do not start
with statements such as, In this lab I learned. Or This was completely
pointless.
