Chemistry

Ancestral chemistry began around 5000 BC in Anatolia, from where the use of metals spread to Egypt and Mesopotamia. Copper was important during the Copper Age from 4000-3000 BC, as humans used fire to work copper into vessels and weapons. The Bronze Age saw the disappearance of social equality and the emergence of copper in Armenia, India, Iran, Egypt and Sumeria, spreading to the Aegean by 2400 BC and Europe by 1700 BC. The Iron Age began around 1500 BC, when the Hittites first cultivated iron, which was stronger but required higher melting temperatures than bronze.
