Research Find out about the students strengths habits, preferences, identity, tendencies, needs, and questions
What you might do or ask
Decide
Make a decision about what/how
to teach the student in the conference. You might decide that you will need more information and cannot teach something yet.
Teach
Observe the student at
his/her seat working with a text or listen in during a turn and talk during a lesson. Ask the student some questions about his/her work. Ask the student to explain what she/he is doing to you Ask the student to go back to a part of the work and explain his/her thinking Closely observe the student working in front of you Consider what you are seeing, hearing and have seen and heard in the past with this student Consider what you could teach through this conference that would help the individual student today and everyday
Tell the student what you
