Check The OLTC Position For Startup Condition On 9 Step Position. Closed 10BBA10GS001, 10BBA10GS010, 10BBA30GS001

1) The document outlines the startup sequence for a simple cycle gas turbine, including checking that auxiliary systems like lubrication, cooling water, and air systems are ready before starting the turbine. 2) It describes starting the turbine by energizing the starting device to accelerate the shaft up to ignition speed, then firing the turbine and warming it up before accelerating to full speed. 3) Once at full speed, the document explains how to manually or automatically synchronize the generator to the grid and close the generator breaker to load the turbine.

STARTUP FROM DCS

Starting Procedure:
1) The display will indicate speed, temperature, various conditions etc. Three lines displayed on the HMI will read:
SHUTDOWN, STARTUP, ON COOL DOWN, OFF.
Is necessary select AUTO condition for the startup and HMI display will change to: STARTUP , READY TO START, AUTO
Select START and unit auxiliaries will be started and a test of the emergency lube oil pump is done, when all permissive are satisfied, the master
protective logic (L4) will be satisfied. The HMI display will change to: STARTUP , STARTING , AUTO

2) The turbine shaft will begin to rotate on turning gear the starting device will be energized and accelerate the unit. The HMI display will change to
CRANKING, and On 14% speed, the minimum speed signal 14HM will be displayed on the HMI.
3) The starting device will crank the gas turbine at purge speed for a period of time (purge timer), Ignition sequence is initiated. The HMI display will
change to FIRING.

4) When flame is established, the HMI display will indicate flame based on the status of the flame detectors, after the FSR will transition to warm-up
value, and the HMI display will indicate WARMINGUP, at the end of the warm-up period, with flame established, FSR will begin increasing. The HMI will
indicate ACCELERATING and the turbine will increase in speed and will continue to accelerate. When it reaches 91% speed, the starting device will
disengage, when the turbine reaches operating speed (95%) the Generator field flashing is initiated. If the synchronizing is not selected on the HMI, as
the turbine reaches operating speed, HMI display will change to: RUNNING FULL SPEED NO LOAD AUTO.
5) If Auto-Synch is selected on the HMI automatic synchronizing is initiated. The HMI will read SYNCHRONIZING, The turbine speed is matched to the
system and when the proper phase relationship is achieved the generator breaker will close. The machine will load to Spinning Reserve unless a load
control point BASE, PEAK or PRESELECTED LOAD has been selected, the HMI will display SPINNING RESERVE, once the unit has reached this load point.

SIMPLE CYCLE STARTUP SEQUENCES

Synchronizing
Manual Synchronization
From FULL SPEED NO LOAD.
1). Select 'MAN SYNCH' on the HMI Synchronization Display.
2) Compare the generator voltage with the line voltage. (These values are located on the HMI Synchronization display.)
3) Make any necessary voltage adjustment by operating the RAISE- LOWER buttons on the HMI display until the generator voltage
equals the line voltage.
4) Compare the generator and line frequency on the synchroscope (located on the Synchronization HMI display). If the pointer is
rotating counterclockwise, the generator frequency is lower than the line frequency and should be raised by increasing the
Turbine/ generator speed.
Note:
1). Adjust the speed until the synchroscope rotates clockwise at approximately five seconds per revolution or slower.
Try to send the close command" when it reaches a point approximately, before the 12 o'clock position.
2). Once the generator has been connected to the power system, the load may be increased to pick up load, and the generator
excitation may be adjusted to obtain the desired Mvar value.

Automatic Synchronization:
From FULL SPEED NO LOAD.
1). Select 'AUTO SYNCH' on the HMI Synchronization display.
d. The control system will match generator voltage to line voltage, synchronize the generator to the line frequency, and load the
generator to the spinning reserve value.
Note:
1). If a synch fails for any reason, it may be necessary to either select START on the HMI Main, Startup Display or select RE-SYNC on
the HMI synchronization display to reset the sequence.
2). Once the generator has been connected to the power system, the load may be increased to pick up load, and the generator
excitation may be adjusted to obtain the desired Mvar value.
