EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Based on previous chapter, the capacity of our plant will be 14000 barrell
per day. Our plant will be divided into two part of process. The first is autothermal
reformer process . The second is processing syngas in Low Temperature FischerTropsch (LTFT) to produced synthetic diesel. To size a compressor, we need its
inlet flow and discharge pressure to determine its type; and its fluid component
heat capacity, its operating condition, and some constants to determine its power,
discharge temperature, and head. To sizing anautothermal reforming reactor, we
need primary a reaction rate and other kinetic data of the ATR. Sometimes the
equilibrium data is also needed. In this part, we also do the mechanical sizing of
the reactor.
In this assignment, we are sizing all of the equipment that we need for
synthetic diesel production. We need sizing to know the feasibility of all the
equipment. The sizing equipment is include the dimension and material
construction. There are 20 equipment and 8 types of equipment that we have
sized. The types of equipment are ATR reactor, demister, LTFT reactor,
distillation, pump, heat exchanger, compressor, and storage tank. We have to
know the performance of our equipment so first we should know some parameters
to calculate the feasibility. For material construction, we also determine them by
considering the work fluid that involved in the process and also the operating
condition. In our process, the most corrosive fluid that we have is only water.
To sizing autothermal reforming reactor, we need the flow rate and the
residence time of the reactor. We also do the mechanical sizing of the reactor, i.e.,
determine its thickness. To size a compressor, we need its inlet flow and discharge
pressure to determine its type; and its fluid component heat capacity, its operating
condition, and some constants to determine its power, discharge temperature, and
head.
