coating system for concrete
Description
Two component, semi elastic, high solids epoxy
polyurethane coating. Suitable for the internal and external
waterproofing and protection of concrete structures.

Primary uses

Elastomeric waterproof coating for concrete civil

structures: bridges, dams, viaducts, etc.
Coating for pipelines, collecting basins, water purification
plants and sewerages.

Advantages

Good chemical resistance against dilute acid and

alkaline solutions as well as mineral oils.
Good elasticity suitable to withstand micro-fissures of
concrete.
Good crack resistance.
Excellent resistance in heavy industrial and marine
environments.
Good UV resistance.

Packaging
MASTERSEAL 135 is available in 20 litre units.

Surface preparation
Substrates must be clean and free from contaminants that
could impair adhesion. Concrete should be at least 28 days
old and should be subjected to light grit or hydro blasting to
remove laitance and expose blow holes and other surface
defects.
Defects should be made good with CONCRESIVE 2200
epoxy mortar or a suitable polymer/cement repair mortar
from the EMACO range.
The surface should be dry when making repairs with
CONCRESIVE 2200.
The use of MASTERTOP PRIMER 2 is recommended as a
primer and surface sealer.
Tightly bound resinous coatings must be roughened prior to
overcoating by grit blasting or disc sanding. Consult your
applicator or Degussa representative for specific primer

recommendations based on the polymer type of the previous

coating.
Alternative primers may be recommended for various
applications, including when 135 is to be applied over an
existing coating or when anti-carbonation and chloride ion
diffusion properties are required to be enhanced.
Consult your applicator or Degussa representative for
specific recommendations.
Mixing:
MASTERSEAL 135 is a two component product. Stir both
components separately, before pouring the hardener into the
base and mixing thoroughly, until a uniform colour is
obtained.
Components are pre weighed and the entire contents of
each pack should normally be used. If full pack usage is
impractical within pot-life, the following mixing ratios apply.
mixing ratio
Component A - base
Component B - hardener

conditions (low or high temperature) thinning with 5-10%
SOLVENT NO. 2.
Higher temperatures reduce the pot life of the mixed
product. In high ambient temperatures, pot-life may be
optimised by storage in an air conditioned room prior to use.

Safety precautions
As with all chemical products, care should be taken during
use and storage to avoid contact with eyes, mouth, skin and
foodstuffs. Treat splashes to eyes and skin immediately. If
accidentally ingested, seek medical attention. Reseal
containers after use. Use in well ventilated areas and avoid
inhalation. For further information, refer to material safety
data sheet.
