your favorite? OR What are your 3 most favorite foods?

Series: Hope Grows, Gives, Goes

Topic: Hope Gives

[Pastor Doug]

Part 2 ~ Group Study & Discussion

Read 1 Corinthians 12:7, 11, 18; Ephesians 4:15-16. Then read & discuss the questions below.

On Sunday Pastor Doug continued in an exploration of the ways in which Bethanys goal is to offer
hope. We were reminded that we offer hope to others (and ourselves) when we give. Your BeGroup is
space where you can identify, learn more about, and exercise your spiritual gift(s). God has SHAPEd us
all to serve. Spend some time discussing some things about each of your SHAPEs with your BeGroup.
Allow these questions to guide your discussion:

1. What are your spiritual gifts? How are you using them? What do you find yourself most
passionate about in life? What skills/talents have you refined over the course of your life? How
would you describe your personality type (e.g., shy, outgoing, introvert, extrovert, take charge,
go with the flow, etc.)?

2. Is there a challenge or triumph youve experienced recently that you feel has impacted how you
use your gifts? Share the experience a bit with your group.

3. What encourages you to use your gifts within the body of Christ? What hinders or discourages
you from using them?

Pastor Doug spoke about giving, and taught us that its our responsibility to pave, pay, & pray the
way for the generation coming after us, and that we give to leave a spiritual legacy that outlives our
physical lives.

4. What is your response to the passage below? How does it shape your understanding of what
it means to give?

10 Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly:

O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever!
11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the
majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is
your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. 12 Wealth and
honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might
are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given
strength.
13 O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 14 But who am I,
and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we
have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!

1 Chronicles 29:10-14 (NLT)

5. Other than financial giving, what are some ways you have felt led to give in the recent past
(either of your time, resources, etc.)?

Part 3 - Prayer

We are all in need of a living hope! Share with each other the areas you would like prayer, then invite
someone to pray for your group.
May you Rest in the freedom that comes when you Rest in His presence.
