Course Analysis
Course Name: Technology Education
Course Length: 12 Weeks
Course Type: Blended / Hybrid (4 Face-to-Face Sessions)
Average Student:
High school students, grades 9-12. Students are familiar with the basics of
technology, but desire to gain an in-depth knowledge of technology to
prepare them for their future.
Content Analysis:

Students should have a basic understanding of operating a computer


(Learned in pre-requisite Introduction to Technology course)
Students should have a basic understanding of navigating the World Wide
Web (Learned in pre-requisite Introduction to Technology course)
Students should be able to communicate in an online setting (Learned in
pre-requisite Introduction to Technology course)
Students should be able to collaborate in an online setting (Learned in prerequisite Introduction to Technology course)

General Goals:

Learn the nine elements of digital citizenship.


Learn how to create digital products.
Learn how to problem solve when faced with software or hardware issues.
Develop good collaboration skills.
Develop good communication skills.

Enhancing Learning:
This course will allow students to gain an in-depth knowledge and
understanding of technology. It will give students hands on experience
creating digital products. It will also give students experience with problem
solving when it comes to software and hardware issues. Students will be able
to communicate, collaborate, and navigate online using good digital
citizenship elements. In learning and experiencing these technology
components, this course will prepare high school students for their future in
college or the workforce.

General Course Assessments


Class Blog: This activity is intended to allow students to reflect on their
assignments, and serve as a journal for the progression in this course.
Course Discussion Board: This activity is intended to allow students to offer
feedback and suggestions, and give their opinions on the assignments.
Course Improvement Survey: This survey will provide the students with the
opportunity to inform me of any changes they feel should be made to the
course, what they like about the course, and how they feel about the course
in general.
Digital Art: This activity will be used to assess the students ability to create
and publish digital content.
Group Wiki: This activity will be used to assess the students ability to
collaborate with their peers.
Multimedia Software Presentation: This activity will be used to assess the
students knowledge and ability to create an animated video using digital
tools.
Multiple Choice Midterm Exam: This test will be used to assess the students
development in technology. It will also serve as a review for the students on
what they have learned thus far.
Multiple Choice & True/False Self-Tests: These tests will be used to assess
the students weekly on what they have learned in that weeks module.
Orientation Quiz: This test will be used to assess the students knowledge of
the orientation module.
Performance Assessment: This assessment will be used as a final exam. The
students will present a multi-media video as a group to the class. This will
test their technology knowledge, as well as collaborative and presentation
skills.
Prezi Presentation: This activity will be used to assess the students ability to
create a digital presentation and their understanding of emerging
technologies.
Research Style Paper: This assessment will be used for students to
demonstrate their knowledge of digital citizenship.
