1) Brief paragraph of each colour, describe the typical times (roles) in your life you
use each colour. In what circumstances would you draw on the skills, talents,
traits and/or qualities from Blue, Gold, Green, and .
Organized Gold is my primary colour. As an gold person I am orderly, loyal, helpful
and dependable. Even though these traits are positive and commendable they come at
a cost. I am often called upon to perform task that are time consuming and
overwhelming from relatives who believe I am the only person who can help them and
they can trust. Example I have an elderly aunt, my late mothers, only sister. I love her
dearly and she me. She resides 1 block from a grocery store and bank. .She could walk
or drive however chooses to call on me frequently, even when weather is good, to do
banking and groceries for her. I rarely say no to her (blue trait) even though I reside in
Pickering and she in Oshawa.
Authentic Blue is my secondary colour. For me being blue is expressive, enthusiastic,
stimulating and animated. I am by nature very expressive in voice, facial expressions
and conduct. I often perform in plays, dramas and presentations depicting historical and
biblical women characters, for womens retreats, church events and parties. I am very
enthusiastic children story teller. Children are often spellbound by my customs, hats and
facial expressions and memorized tales.
Resourceful Orange is my third trait. As a orange person I love variety, freedom to
express individuality and needs facts to work well under pressure. I like finding ways to
do new things. A recent example, I was recently requested to portray a historical women
character of virtue. I decided on portraying Anna Magdalena Bach, the composer
Yohann Sabastian Bachs, wife. I research the facts on how she dressed and how she
Helped her husband in composing and transcribing his music. Anna sacrificed her own
singing career so that she could encourage her husband to compose more, while she
took on many of his household chores. I was determined to portray her in the most
positive light and hopefully encourage and motivate women to maintain their virtue.
Inquiring Green is my last trait. Some of the Green traits are knowledgeable, visual,
independent and creative. I love learning new things, writing scripts, watching
documentaries on new invitations and historical characters. Then I use this knowledge
to improve, create and enhance my abilities to perform as an actress. So those who
view my presentations and hear my stories are stimulated to learn more about the
characters I portray. As a green person I love being around and performing for others
however I need my private time to relax and rejuvenate.
2. What strengths or skills of that colour are you calling on in the role/situation.
The colour of strength or skill that I used when I was acting Mrs. Anna Magdalena Bach
was Authentic Blue. Because blue represents expressive, enthusiastic, stimulating and
animated strength.
3. Explain what traits in your strongest colour energizes you (have the strongest
connection to) and what traits in your weakest colour exhausts or frustrates you (traits
that are least like you)? [4 paragraphs: 8 marks]
My colour trait is gold and I have a strong connection to this colour because it has
characteristics of an organized, orderly and tidy person. These traits energize me to rise
early in the morning and start cleaning house, folding laundry or taking out trash. This
allows me to have more leisure time in the evenings to study and prepare for the next
day activities.
Another gold trait that I am strongly connected to and energizes me is the
characteristics of a loyal, dependable and reliable person. I am often called upon to
make decisions for my elderly relative and drive her to doctor appointments. My aunt
knows I am a stickler for being on time and punctual, so she never is anxious about
missing appointments with me.
One gold trait that is least like me but frustrates and exhaust me are: rigid, resistant to
change and often unforgiving individuals. I was married to such an individual. My exhusband wouldnt listen to my advice when it came to finances and would often over
spend. That was okay for him to do so, but if I overspent he was unforgiving. Leaving
me often upset and frustrated with him.
Second gold trait that is least like me but frustrates and exhaust me is being too hard on
self and others. I have a friend who has a lot of gold trait characteristics. We get along
great and I have known her for years. She never had children and I did. So when we
made plans to have a ladies night out and my children became sick and I had to cancel
our evening out, she didnt understand my dilemma and took it personally.
4a. Describe the area of your work that you enjoy the most and why?
For over 18 years I have been employed in the Public Relations sector. I have held
positions as a customer service representative, receptionist and telecommunications
specialist. I loved being employed in these positions because I was often the first
contact to greet customers, clients and employees in the morning.
4b. Describe any connections you see between this area of work and the
strengths and preferences of your primary colour. Preparing for career in Office
Administration, what traits or characteristics, of your primary colour, do you think will
help you in this career
My area of employment is connected to my gold trait because I enjoy serving (greeting)
others. Also a strong gold trait is punctuality. I am a morning person and getting to work
early is an asset when working at any institution or company. I believe applying for an
Office Administrator position with the gold traits I possess such as: helpful, trustworthy,
complete task on time and cooperative will help in my career choice.
5a. Describe any professional responsibility or situation you dont like.
Having been employed in customer service departments I often hear the complaints of
employees, customers and clients before anyone else does. This is time consuming and
can be somewhat annoying. However I take it in stride and dont take it personally.
5b. Identify any connections you see between this situation/responsibility and
your Personality Dimension plaid. (Hint: You might want to consider your lowest colour.)
There is a striking connection between my lowest colour, resourceful orange and how I
have handled complaints from staff and customers. I perform well under pressure and
tend not to take things personally. These are orange traits that make me resilient to
verbal abuse and tolerant of negative people.
5b. As an Office Administrator, in an interview when an employer asks you to
share your strengths or asks you to tell them about yourself, what strengths, qualities or
characteristics would you share with them?
I would share with the potential employer that I am a loyal, helpful, punctual and
dependable employee. Also I pay attention to detail and get along well with others,
especially under pressure. Last I would emphasize that my organizational skills are
exceptional and I pay attention to detail and honour deadlines.
6a. Describe a situation in which you have experienced conflict with someone, or
experienced difficulty understanding/communicating/relating with someone.
I have twin 21 year old daughters. Often when I say something, especially in haste I am
many times misunderstood, misquoted and blamed. My youngest daughter is currently
in British Columbia since April. She has chosen not to speak to me for months, because
I told her I dont believe she should live with her father in Ontario due to control issues.
