GETTY VILLA TEST

NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED!


You need a proof that you went to the museum. Your computer reser vation is not valid as a proof!
Submit a photo of you at the museum! This photo must be printed out on paper ; with the amount of
students in the class it is not possible to check pictures on your smar tphone. Without proof your paper
will not be accepted! No exceptions!
If you go before completion of Greek and Roman Periods in class, read the Greek and Roman section
before your visit in order to be ready to answer the questions! Consider taking your textbook with you.
It will be helpful for you to answer the questions.

Note: You need reservations for parking at the Getty Villa (Two Weeks in Advance)
Parking costs $15, but the Museum entrance is free! So go with classmates and split the cost of
parking and gas. Bring friends and/or family and enjoy your day at the villa. Allow for plenty of time for
your visit, so you can enjoy the grounds, relax and have a nice lunch at the villas restaurant.

The Getty assignment consists of two parts:


A list of questions to be answered on a Scantron
A typed, one to two page paper that discusses the following topics:
A brief histor y of the Getty Villa,
Who was Mr. Getty?
What was your favorite piece in the collection? Describe the piece (medium, subject matter, period,
characteristics etc.) and discuss why you liked it and/or how it made you feel.
A discussion of one element and one principle seen in the architectural design of the Villa
