Reflection 11

The teacher taught a math lesson on numbers 11 through 20 to foundation stage 2 students. She used puppets to have the students identify missing numbers. The students enjoyed this and were actively participating. The teacher also had the students complete a coloring activity in groups to reinforce the numbers. While the lesson went well with the students listening and helping each other, the supervising teacher recommended the teacher focus on improving classroom and behavior management.

Reflection (11)

Numbers lesson was my last lesson in my teaching practice at RAK Academy School. It was the
last Math lesson that I have a chance to teach it for foundation stage 2 boys and girls students for
the second time through 25 minutes. The overall aim of the lesson was to learn numbers from 11
through 20.
First of all, I sat with my MST before I prepare for the lesson and she advise me to use the puppets
in classroom to order the numbers and then ask the students to close their eyes, and while they are
closing their eyes I should use the puppets to steel one number and the students need to recognize
which number does the puppet steels. Second of all, students were laughing on me because I have
changed my voice while I am talking using the puppet. Moreover, students were active and they
were motivating to say the answer. For example, I asked the students to close their eyes , then I
took number 18 from the number list, so after that I asked the students to open their eyes and they
were recognize the missing numbers which was 18. Also, I did an activity on the mat area which
was the coloring blocks. I divided the students into four groups, then I asked them to do the first
column in the worksheet. The activity was suitable for some students who has LogicalMathematical intelligence because they like to make calculations (Multiple Intelligences: What
Does the Research Say? 2013).

However, the lesson went good because the students were doing the activities with each other. I
was so glad because I have seen that the students were listening, they were working and helping
each other to finish the activities, and they did all the activity by following my instructions. Also,
I finished the lesson on time and the students really work hard to learn the concept. Miss Sims
was smiling all the lesson, so I get more motivated to complete the lesson, and her
recommendation was to complete on building the classroom management, behavior management
techniques, and I should remember I can do it.
