Setting up the VMWare Images

Settings of HANA Linux image


Use at least 48 GB for the HANA DB image (system will use SSD as memory):

Login as root password is Drill!23

ECC Image settings need only 8GB memory:

Timezone
Changed to match my pc timezone (as in video from ERPDRILL):

HOST NAMES
Ensure host names are the same:
Go into terminal and check the IP address given by your OS:

Type ifconfig in order to find the IP address set in the image by your OS (your IP address will
differ from the one below):

Go to your hostnames:

And edit your IP address in the hostnames (to match the one from ifconfig):

Note: Host aliases must be both hanasp96

Restart the HANA database


If you have changed the hostnames, you need to stop the HANA database: Change to user hdbadm (use
command ls -l hdbadm) and then stop the database with command HDB stop:

After the database has stopped (wait a few minutes), restart the database with command HDB start.
Note: If you are going to shutdown the HANA DB VMWare image, you need
to stop the DB with command HDB stop.

Register the HANA DB in HANA DB Studio


Create a shortcut of HANA DB studio in your HANA Linux vm image:

Then start the HANA Studio (create a secure storage password if you want) and register the
system:

and enter the user:

Your system is now registered and if you rightclick on it and select properties:

You can view your hardware key and install one:

System ID: HDB

Generate a new HANA license key:

you will get a file sent to you from SAP with the license which you can install from the previous step.

Procedure to update the HANA server hardware key (Optional)


In case you want to update the HANA server hardware key, there is on OSS note describing the process.
1738390 - How to update SAP HANA Linux server hardware key
Symptom: When you have installed SAP HANA, you want to update the Linux server hardware key.
Cause: Application recommendation
Solution:
Prerequisite: You have logged on to Linux as SAP HANA instance administrator.
To update the hardware key, follow the procedure below:
1. Stop the SAP HANA DB instance
2. Remove line 'id=<a number>' in /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/custom/config/nameserver.ini
3. Execute 'hdbnsutil -convertTopology'
4. Start the SAP HANA DB instance
NOTE: Reinstallation of SAP HANA will generate a different hardware key, but upgrade of SAP HANA
will not change the hardware key.
