Lesson Plan Pro-Formal

Pupils will learn to identify 2D and 3D shapes. They will explore shapes through drawing, recognize regular and irregular shapes like squares, triangles, circles and cubes. The lesson involves introducing vocabulary, creating a classification chart to identify shapes based on attributes, and an exit ticket homework on triangles. The goal is for pupils to accurately construct and identify different shapes in pictures, words and real life examples.

Resources

What do pupils know

about triangles?

Group Instruction:
Vocab:
- I will provide pupils with a chart that they can
paste/keep in their notes
- The chart will have sections for the shapes name,
number of sides, 2-D or 3-D, and an image to be
drawn.
- We will work through the chart as a group
- Pupils will first try to identify each shape
- We will then move on to identify the types of angles
in the shapes, the number of sides, and other
important information.
- I will have pupils add a few more vocabulary words to
their original vocabulary sheet.
o Face
o Edge
o Vertex
- If there is time left over, we will create a family tree
with the shapes we identified
- Pupils will then have the chance to move on to their
homework sheet
Exit Ticket:
- Introduce new homework
- Pupils must put it in their planner before they can
leave.
- **Pupils must bring a protractor for tomorrow**
