Sarah spent the week co-planning and co-teaching lessons with her mentor teacher, grading tests and homework, and teaching part of a new lesson. Her most satisfying experience was teaching the students every day, while her most challenging was making a mandatory report to the Department of Human Services about a student she had connected with. The upcoming week is Sarah's last, though she is staying an extra week, where she will continue co-teaching and has planned fun activities for students ahead of their next test without a study guide.

Ispentmyweekcoplanningandcoteachingeachlessonwithmymentor
teacher.Iwasresponsiblefortestgradingandreview,homeworkcheck,and
teachingthefirstpartofthenewlesson.Ialsoattendedtheprofessional
developmentofallmathteachersinIowaatDMACCsAnkenyCampuson
Wednesday.WehadalotoffunandIlearnedalotaboutdifferentiated
instructionandhowtobetterincorporatefunideasintomathematicseducation.
2. Whatwereyourmostsatisfyingexperiences?Whatwereyourmostchallenging
experiences?
Mymostsatisfyingexperiencehasbeenteachingthemeveryday.Ithasbeena
joyandmystudentsarealreadytalkingabouthowmuchtheywillmissmeandI
them.Mymostchallengingexperiencewasmakingmyfirstmandatoryreporting
phonecalltoDHS.Thiswaschallengingnotduetotheprocedureinplace,but
emotionallyasIhavereallyconnectedwiththisparticularstudentandIamsosad
tohearofthingssuchasthese.Ireallyhopethatitallturnsoutforthebestinthe
end.
3. Whataretheplansfortheupcomingweek?
Theupcomingweekissupposedtobemylast,butIamstayingforanextraweek.
Wearestillworkingoncoteachingeachclass,mostlybecauseIaskedtoteach
uptotheend.Iamplanningsomefunactivitiesformystudentsandhopingthat
theycansucceedwithoutastudyguideforthisnexttest.
