andbegantodesignthebottomexchanger
(fortunately,bothexchangersweresimilar).

Then,Iputtwomassesinthesameplacewhere
wereplacedthesaddlesofthebottomexchangers.
TheesetwomasseshadthevalueinKgofthe
reactionoftheupperexchanger.Youmustread
theesevaluesfromteh"HorizontalVesselAnalysis"
inoperation,atthebeginingofeachsaddle
calculation,youwillreadthefollowing,asexample:

LoadCombinationResultsforQ+WindorSeismic
[Q]:
=SaddleLoad+Max(Fwl,Fwt,Fsl,Fst)
=4732+Max(1675,1688,1675,0)
=6421.1Kgf

Themassshouldhaveavalueof4732Kgf(thatwill
betheverticalforce).Thenreadthisvalueinthe
othersaddle!

Ifyouhaveagreatwindload,youshouldputtwo
horizontaltransversalforceinthesameplaceofthe
bottomexchangersaddles(plusthewindduetothe
bottomexchangeritselfthatwillbeautomatically
calculated)

ItdemanssomemoretimebutinthiswayIhad
goodresultsandthepurcharseroftheequipment
aprovvedmethecalculation.Ididntshowanything
abouttheintermediatepartbetweenthebaseplate
oftheupperexchangerandthebottomexchangerin
thatcalculation.

WARNING!somepurcharsersspecifytotakeinto
accountthehorizontalforceofthebundleduring
extractionasaforceof100%theweightofthe
bundle.Youcan'tputamomentinanhorizontal
vessel,sothisforcexcentertocenterdistance

thebaseplatetohaveahigherthickness!!

Thereweresomethingpeculiarinthedesignof
theesesaddles.Thecircunferentialwearplatewasin
contactandweldedwiththebottomexchangershell
onlyinthe120bottomside.Sotheloadofthe
upperexchangerweretransferedtothebaseonlyby
thesaddleandnotbythebottomexchanger.Inthe
upperside,thewearplatewasseparatedfromthe
shell5mm.
