BABY DUMPING

A very good morning I bid to our beloved lecturer, Miss Hameeda Begum and all my
fellow friends. Without wasting anymore time, I would like to introduce my topic today, and that
is about baby dumping. Have you heard about baby dumping? I can bet that all of you have an
idea what is a baby dumping, am I right? In my speech, I am going to share with you the cause
and effect of baby dumping also who to be blame in this case.
Are you proud to be a Malaysian? Well, I know all of us proud to be a Malaysian but what
happened recently make me thinking ? Our country, Malaysia has become the most favorite spot
for dumping babies. The year 2010 is also known as Baby Dumping cases for Malaysia which
brings a lot of questions and issues. Baby dumping can be defined as rejecting and throwing a
baby away immediately after birth and exposing it to danger and death. The baby is not guilty. As
we know Baby dumping is one of the easiest ways is done by couples who commit adultery than
pregnant and have been chronic increase in Malaysia. The baby dumping case has touched my
heart upon seeing the pictures of the baby being dumped in very inhuman way. There are several
causes that may lead to baby dumping cases that have been identified
First of all, extreme celebration of certain events. As we all knew, New Year occasion is
the day where people especially teenager will gather around with their friends. Health Minister
Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam said in November last year that over 18, 000 teen girls in
Malaysia get pregnant every year and seek medical supervision as well as advice in health
clinics.He also said that of the total, 25% or approximately 4,500 cases were cases of out-ofwedlock pregnancies. One of tthis thing happened is by having an extremely celebration will
leads to the free sex whether direct or indirectly. Actually, this way on celebrating any events
came from a west culture which spread out to Malaysia culture. Our people easily got involved
because they just want to try to be west people.
Next, sexual abuse also were the factor which contribute to increase in baby dumping in
this country. We always heard that the boys who using the girls to please their sexual desires,
always not responsible toward that girl. They would disappears without leaving a trace. So,
women, who dump their baby usually due to the feeling being betrayed by the fathers baby
whether willing or unwillingly. In addition, parents keep pushing them to dispose the baby to
avoid from being shy with people sorroundings by others without care about their child feeling.
Just imagine how bad it is that kind of parents. The women, who were involve in sexually abuse
actually were having an emotion and mentally depression. If not parents who are the ones that
can comfort our child then who. Dispose the baby is not the good solution to revenge. Give a
birth and give the baby to parental care to be adopting later. Here, we can see that parents play an
important role to avoid this problem keeps increasing.

Besides, broken family is the factor that may leads to this baby dumping. As their child
seek for love, too busy with their jobs until they forget to give attention to their children. This is
a serious problem among parents as they dont know what their children are doing. According to
Dr. Khaidzir Ismail, Psychologists of children and adolescents from University of Kebangsaan
Malaysia, 2007, Conflict in the family kicked out of youth to find a place and friends can help
overcome life and at the same time meet the needs of finance, entertainment and emotional
development. If someone has poor parental modeling but still goes on to make fantastic life
choices, in the same time, they not get attention from family; so very easy to son and daughter
involved with social problem like baby dumping.
Now that Ive discussed the causes of baby dumping, I will now discuss the effect of baby
dumping case. There are three effects of baby dumping.
The first effects is effect on the mother. Being a pregnant unexpectedly makes them
feel panic and they take a risk to abort the baby.This situation will give the individual high risk
of death caused by bleeding and infection on mothers womb's. Women who are involved in
abortion without proper medical procedures can cause death. It is because the infection and
bleeding in the uterus.
Secondly, this is about damage on the baby. The babies would face a few growing up
issues,from lack of immunity as the baby was not breast-fed to the mentally problem like feeling
unwanted and depressed. They would have a problem to build a relationship with people as their
tragic life experience.
Lastly, the most important part is the effects on society. As we know, the act of
abortions would be mimicked by society. Most cases of baby dumping in Malaysia are disposing
the newborn baby into the dustbin and leave them to the death. This shows the bad side of the
people's humanity. It has become wide and brings the negative views from society.

Now that we had known the cause of baby dumping, lets move on to the next main point that is
the prevention of baby dumping cases.
The most important way to prevent this cases from increase is should closed to their
religion since small. By involving in religion we can avoid from this type of problem
happened.It also can prevent the youth from get stuck on social ill such as free sex that leads to
baby dumping. The most important is take a maximum care and control yourself.
Second way to prevent baby dumping cases increase is parents must provide religious
education so that children know good and bad matter. Besides, parents should know whom their
children friend so that make parent easy to know all their children's activity. Through this it can
control their children's movement not to trapped with bad element at outside.

Nevertheless,the intervention of people surround is play the main influenced to help


those kind of people before them already too far to find the turning back. Mostly, the cases
related to baby dumping is begin from lack of moral support from relative and family members,
convert a despise into a support to help them find the correct way to finish what they just started.
Teenagers are sometime tending to take a fastest way without in reasonable solution to their
problem, here the support is playing the role to guide them rather than exclude them out of the
community. To bring an intact community, everyone of single person in the community must take
the plausible action, because the mistake happen inside is the reagent to be strengthening the
community.
Besides, mass media also one of the ways to prevent baby from being abandoned. It is
the nearest medium and the best way to communicate and educate teenagers. It all about how to
protect themselves and give useful knowledge to avoid
from involve in anything that can take them to this
problem. Besides that, the sex education and set the stage
for more personal discussions in homes and schools.

In conclusion,baby dumping is morally and


physically wrong.Teenagers should keep a distance from
the crimes.They have to learn to be responsible on what
they have done and think maturely on the pros and cons of
things. They should be able to differentiate good things
and bad things.All in all,starting from today, parents and
schools must play their roles in fighting baby dumping
cases by imposing enough sex education in their children
and always beware on their children' action.Baby dumping
should be eliminated from now on and leave a peaceful
and caring society for us. Thats all I can share to all of
