Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: Students will use this website during one of their writing
centers to create a narrative from the topic they choose on the site. They will spend the center
time creating a narrative that fits the criteria then submitting it. If they opt not to write a
narrative during the given time, they must read other students narratives and vote on them. They
must then fill out a sheet for me establishing what they saw wrong with the other narratives and
how they could be improved.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? A computer with a keyboard and internet would be the technologies needed to
implement this lesson.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of
them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high
LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: Students submit their narratives online or they view other
students beyond the classrooms narratives.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students are
producing an original narrative based on the criteria given in the prompt.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students must analyze and evaluate the prompt and quickly
brainstorm ideas to write their narrative in thorough way.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: When students publish their work, other students in the community will
be able to read and vote on what they have written
