PASADENA COVENANT CHURCH

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Saturday, December 24 at 6pm
Come join us in celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior on December 24 at 6pm. This
service will be the perfect way to slow down amidst all the Christmas rush and take a
moment to ponder the amazing events that took place on the night of our dear Saviors
birth. Lighting of the Christ Child candle and singing with the gentle glow of candle light
will close out our celebration of this momentous moment in history that changed the world.
Glory to God in the Highest! See you there!

Note: We will not be having a worship service on Sunday, December 25. Please join our Pasadena
Covenant family to celebrate Jesus' birth on Christmas Eve at 6pm, for our candlelight service.

socks and soft centered granola bars for the gift bags we will hand out. We also need
volunteers to serve Christmas Eve: 7-9pm. Come to the sign-up table in the gym during
hospitality or contact Vikki Randall at [email protected].

Volunteers still needed to help man the Bad Weather Shelter

We still need groups & individuals to help man the BWS on the Wednesdays it is weather
activated (total of 8-12 people needed each evening). If you can help from 6:309pm or
even part of the time, we can use your help. Please sign up at the BWS table during
hospitality time or contact Vikki Randall at [email protected].

Help Stock Up for Bad Weather Shelter (BWS)

Our Bad Weather Shelter season began the day after Thanksgiving. The Bad Weather shelter is
open on nights when the temperature is below 42 or there's a 40% chance of rain. Pasadena
Covenant hosts the shelter in our gym, and helps staff the shelter on Wednesday nights.
Because the shelter is weather-activated, we need to stock up on supplies to help us respond
quickly when rain comes! You can help by donating any of these items which we can have on
hand when needed (bring them Sunday to the BWS table during hospitality):

Freezable casseroles. Stop by the bad weather shelter table to pick up a disposable foil
pan, fill it with a freezable casserole or stew to serve 40 people, and return on Sunday.
OR bring large family-style frozen lasagnas.

Dry spaghetti & large containers of spaghetti sauce

Punch or lemonade mix (powdered or concentrate)

Packaged cookies

3-5 lb. cans of ground coffee (or as large a size as available)

Volunteers Needed to Help with Book Fair at Madison

Madison Elementary will hold a book fair December 5-9. Our own
Nancy Stuckey, Madison Librarian, could use help any day from 8-3pm
(even if only for 2 hours). If anyone wants to buy books this is a good
place to shop. The library will receive 50% of the sales as profit. Please
contact Nancy at [email protected] if you would like to
volunteer.

Sharing the Light of Gods Love
Sunday Mornings at 10:30am nursery thru 5th grade
This year we set off on the final leg of our 3-year journeythe Journey FROM the Promised
Land! This year all three classes (2's & 3's, PreK/K and gradeschool) will study the same lesson
each week, making it easier for families to follow up at home. In December we will be focused on
Adventwaiting for and celebrating the birth of our Savior.

December lessons and follow up suggestions for families:

Dec. 4th: Angels visit (Matt. 1:18-25)
Dec. 11th: Jesus is born (Luke 2:1-20)
Dec. 18th: Wise Men (Matt. 2:1-12)
Dec. 25th: No kids program: join us for Christmas Eve services Dec. 24th!

Follow up at home: Family advent calendars/devotional guides were distributed at Advent

Breakfast and are available in the children's classrooms. Use the questions and activities in the
calendar to shape weekly family devotions and fun daily activities to help kids understand the
meaning of Jesus' incarnation.

Logosland Christmas Party Sun., Dec. 18th 12-2 pm

1st-5th graders are invited to join us after church on Sun., Dec. 18th for a Logosland
Christmas party! We'll have pizza, games, veggietales videos, and will put together gift
bags for our guests as the Bad Weather Shelter. Join us for a fun holiday tradition!

Mighty Memorizers
Mighty Memorizers is our program to encourage Bible memorization among our kids, PreK
through 5th grade. Kids learn one verse each month, related to their Sunday morning lessons. All
our memorizers are honored each June. We encourage families to learn these verses together and
make them part of your daily routine! Our December verse is: The people who walk in darkness
will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. - Isaiah
9:2
