Preparation Before Class: Slide show, handouts, worksheets, paints, brushes, q-tips, water dishes,
paint trays, and pallets prepared. .Engagement/Opening: I ntroduce the lesson as the beginning of unit
on using value to create the illusion of form.Connection to Prior Learning: B

experience with color mixing and color theory.Modeling: Demonstrate color mixing using the five dot
method.Procedures: Students will sit in seats, listen to lecture, and answer questions. Students will
move to demonstration table and observe the mixing colors demonstration and answer questions.
Students will then be directed to gather their materials and begin working on color mixing/form and value
worksheets. A total of five worksheets: one for creating a color wheel, one for creating value, three for
practicing creating form in three different color schemes. Instructor will move around the room and
conference with students as they work. Independent Practice: Students will work on their color wheel,
color value, and color scheme worksheets.Clean-up: Ten minutes before the end of class, students clean
all tools, throw away paint trays, put materials back on supply table, and clean tables.Conclusion:
Students sit at tables and wait for bell dismissal.

To help meet the needs of all learners, learning differences, cultural and language differences, etc.

Differentiation: Directions will be given verbally, with visual aids, and in writing. Students will be allowed
to work that their own pace. Accommodations: Struggling students will be provided with exemplars that
engage their learning style.Modifications: Students with IEPs may only be required to do one color
scheme worksheet instead of three.Increases in Rigor: Students who have advanced skills will begin
work on the follow up assignment immediately, and be encouraged to select more complexe subjects.
