Lessonplan 7

The lesson plan is for a 10th grade Hungarian class on the topic of "My Home". The aims are to refresh and expand students' vocabulary about homes and motivate speaking. Activities include drawing as a warm-up, presenting new vocabulary, watching a video with comprehension questions, asking students questions about their own homes, having students tell a collaborative story, and writing a letter about a new home as homework. Potential issues are mistakes in verb tenses, student shyness, which the teacher addresses with clear modeling. The plan provides structure and progression from receptive to productive language use about homes over 50 minutes.

Lesson Plan 7

Date: 2016.09.19.
School: Szegedi Dek Ferenc Gimnzium
Teacher: Simon Jnos
Class: 10/H
Level: Intermediate
Age: 15-16
Topic: My Home
Aims: Refresh and expand students vocabulary in the topic of Home, motivating the students to speak and
act freely in front of others.
Competencies: Linguistic competence (use of Present Simple and Past tenses) and discursive competence
(talking about ones real or fictional home).
Assumed knowledge: Present Simple, basic vocabulary items in the topic of Home

Anticipated problems: Students may produce mistakes in the use of Present Simple regarding
singular/plural forms and third person -s, and in the use of Past tenses (especially regarding the past form
of words). If this happens multiple times, a quick overview is necessary (maybe even a longer overview for
next class). Students may also be too shy to speak up. To avoid this, the teacher provides a model for talking
about ones home.
Aids: Board, chalk, vocabulary, exercise book, printed handout.
