Cellupdate Less RLC 'Unrecoverable' Error Recovery Via SCRI in 25

1. When the maximum number of transmissions of a RESET PDU is reached, an RLC unrecoverable error is detected and normally the UE would initiate a cell update procedure. 2. A new solution is to use a Signalling Connection Release Indication (SCRI) message instead to report the error and allow the network to trigger RLC re-establishment via reconfiguration. 3. The UE and network must support this "Cellupdate Less" RLC error recovery method and indicate it during connection setup for it to be used.

ThisisgovernedbythetimervaluesT314(CS)andT315(PS)signalledinSIB1.iftheyare

thennetworkdoesntsupportcallreestablishmenti.eRRCconnectionsignallingrelease
messagewillbe
senttoUEandifthesetimershaveavalueotherthan0,thenthenetworkwilldothere
establishmentvia
thecellupdateconfirmmessage.
Problemswithmultirabcase
WhenCS+PSRABisconfiguredforUEandifthereisaRLCunrecoverableerrorforPS
domain,theresulting
procedureasdescribedaboveendsupinthedroppedcallforbothPSandCSdomain.Even
thoughthe
problemisspecifictoPSdomain,weendupinlosingthevoicecall.Thisseemstogivethe
userabad
perceptionaboutthenetwork.
Evenifanetworkcouldsupportcallreestablishment,therewillbeCSvoicedisruptioninthis
case.
