Rhee Taekwon-Do Curriculum Unofficial and Unauthorised

This is the unofficial and unauthorised curriculum and grading requirements for Rhee Taekwon-Do Australia. #RheeTKD While it has not been authorised, it has been compiled after years of training within the martial art. It is as true to the art as possible while noting that there are many forms of Taekwon-Do in existance. Rhee Taekwon-Do is a traditional martial art which use to be linked with International Taekwon-Do Federation and so is very similar in many ways. Rhee Taekwon-Do is a self defence art and therefore does not compete or participate in sports related Taekwon-Do; it is for self protection, protection of others and designed to be used in serious, real situations only.

SELF DEFENCE CONSIDERATIONS

1. Prevention is better than being able to free yourself from a situation, so maintain
awareness of where you are, who you are with and what you are doing.
2. Always try to travel with someone you know.
3. Always stay on well travelled and populated street.
4. Get off the bus as close to home as possible and be aware of who gets off with you.
5. Never, never ever get into a car or go anywhere with someone you dont know!
6. If someone in a car is asking for assistance, keep your distance. You can talk to them
from 4 meters away!
7. Prevention is better than being able to free yourself from a hold, so move or block to
avoid being grabbed.
8. Make a lot of noise DONT TOUCH ME! FIRE!
9. Dont do the same thing over and over.
10. Stay off the ground at all costs. Upright gives you the best options.
11. Passive stance before defensive stance.

Progression / escalation of actions.

1. Hands up passive stance.
2. Noise with hands up. Dont touch me!
3. Move away / block / dont get grabbed.
4. Release and counter.
5. Fight.
Run away at any time you feel uncomfortable and have the chance. Running away is the best
course of action and can be done at any time.

GUIDE TO FITNESS ELEMENTS

1. A push up is completed by lowering the chest to almost/just touch the floor by
bending the elbows and then lifting the chest up until the arms are fully straight. All
the while keeping the body completely straight.
2. A sit up is completed by keeping the knees together and bent about 90 degrees,
keeping the feet together, cross the arms across the body so opposite hands rest on
opposite shoulders, then lifting up until the elbows tough the knees as a minimum. The
elbows may extend past the knees.
3. A squat is completed by standing with feet at approximately shoulder width apart,
lowering the bum down until it almost touches the floor, then rising up until the legs
are completely straight. Note: the knees should not extend further forward than the
toes. Push the bum back like you are sitting on a chair.
