National Integration

National integration in India means recognizing that despite differences in caste, religion, region and language, all Indians are united as one. India has experienced many foreign invasions but its cultural unity has endured. However, communalism, casteism, regionalism and linguism obstruct national integration. During British rule, policies of divide and rule pitted different groups against each other but education is the key to overcoming past divisions and strengthening unity.

National Integration is a feeling that binds the citizens of our country.

It means that
though we belong to different castes, religions and regions and speak different
languages we recognize the fact that we are all one.
India is a multi-racial and multilingual country, an excellent example of Unity in
Diversity. Innumerable foreign invasions and conquests from time to time, could
not crush the unity of culture.
Communalism, Casteism, regionalism, linguism are obstacles to national
integration.
British rulers used divide and rule policy. They divided princes against people;
Hindus against Muslims; caste against castes; and provinces against provinces. The
dragon seeds they sow during that time continue to create headache to India.
Slogans like Punjab for Punjabis , Maharashtra for the sons of the soil only
and the growth of powerful regional parties in states are dangerous signals. India
is one single country, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Assam to Punjab.
No region is more important than the other. Regionalism is against the spirit of
National integration .
There are about 1652 languages spoken in India. There are conflicts on the
languages issue. People of one language try to establish their language over others.
Language issue became a barrier on the way of national integration.
No political party keep national interests at heart sincerely. They create vote bank
by injecting communal venom . As Shakespeare said in King Lear Its the times
plague that Mad men lead the blind.
Dr.S.Radhakrishnan has rightly said that "National Integration cannot be built by
brick and mortar, it cannot be built by chisel and hammer. It has to grow silently in
the minds and hearts of men. The only process is the process of education"
And let me finish by quoting the famous Sanskrit sloka.
Janani Janma bhoomi-scha Swargadapi Gariyasi .
That is Mother and motherland are superior to heaven. Jai Hind!.
