LITERATURE CLASS - Sonnet Composed Upon Westminster Bridge

The document provides context and analysis of William Wordsworth's sonnet "Composed Upon Westminster Bridge". It discusses the setting, inspiration, and theme of the poem. Wordsworth composed the sonnet while crossing Westminster Bridge in London on July 31, 1802 and was struck by the beauty and serenity of the city at dawn, with the buildings and landscape glowing in morning sunlight and the city still asleep before the day's activity begins. The document provides two reviews that analyze features of the poem, such as its form as a Petrarchan sonnet and Wordsworth's surprising personification of the natural and man-made elements of the scene.
