Here's what we're learning this week:

Reading: We will revisit retell and character analysis, while beginning to compare
and contrast similar books (text to text connections)
Turn over for more information

Phonics: We are starting to look at ending blends. We started with ending l

blends and this week we will work on ending t blends. (-ct, -ft, -nt, -pt, -st,
and xt)
Writing: We will begin working on Authors Craft which is one of my favorite
writing units. Students study what good authors do and use it in their own
small moment stories. Students learn to use ellipsis, bold words, quotation
marks, sound effects, as well as many more.
Math: We will begin unit 4 which focuses place value. The unit will focus on
teen numbers and seeing the ten group.
Social Studies/Science: We will continue to look at first grade economics and
discuss scarcity and choice.
Other news:
Star of the Day: Students may bring in one show n tell for this round of
star of the day.
Wet and Cold: Please make sure that your student is coming prepared for
the weather. There are very few times that students do not go out for
recess, so please send them daily with a hat, gloves, jacket, snow pants,
and boots.
Emergency snacks: Although we have an overwhelming selection of pretzels
I would like the kids to have a little choice, just in case they dont like
pretzels. If you are willing to get some emergency snacks for the
classroom it would be greatly appreciated!
Expo Markers: We use expo markers almost daily in class and are running a
little low. If you are willing to get some that would be great! Black
markers are preferred.
NGFA Family Night: Coming February 17more info to come
