Calculate The FC Based On Fs

To calculate the corner frequency (Fc) of a series LC filter, take the switching frequency (Fsw) and divide it by 10 to the power of negative 100 divided by the decay rate in decibels per decade which is -40dB for a second order LC filter. For an example where Fsw is 20kHz, the calculated Fc is 63.24Hz.

How to calculate Corner frequency for Series LC Filter

Decay Rate x Log (Fsw/Fc) = -100 dB

Decay rate for LC filter = -40dB per decay (2nd Order)
Fc = Corner Frequency
Fsw = Switching frequency
Fc = 20kHz/(10^(-100/-40))
Fc = 63.24Hz
