Chapter123 Autocad Civil 3d
INTRODUCTION
Technology is one of the principal driving forces of the future; it is
transforming our lives and shaping our future at rates unprecedented in
history, with profound implications which we can't even begin to see or
understand. Technology has also changed other aspects of everyday life,
such as health care, education, job satisfaction, and leisure time
activities. Today technology is very important in society because it makes
life easier to live on and less time consuming. For example, if people want
to design their building, the only thing he need is machine that can
analyse and solve the structure using software.
The current education system in our country is going a rapid
change. During the past two decades, the number of students aspiring to
become engineers has increased almost exponentially. Science and its
mysteries have attracted a huge population of youth. Also, on the
teaching front, teaching with computer-aided software has become quite
popular. Rapid developments in multimedia technology also have brought
about a tremendous change nowadays. Since, the students have now
become so well acquainted with technology, the need to maintain the
educational tactics parallel to their pace is the need of the hour for
teachers. Hence the use of computers has become increasingly important
in generating and developing ideas and creativity of teachers in the
teaching and learning process. A number of studies have been conducted
to explore and prove the effectiveness of computer aided software in
Engineering Drawing. Even after being proven as a superior or more
effective method of learning/teaching, Computer Aided Learning, is still
used as a supplement or alternative to traditional book and blackboard
learning resource. Educational researchers have shown that teaching to
develop this type of cognitive activity, rather than teaching to deliver
knowledge, fosters competence. The credit of fostering such competence
goes to the magic of technological world. It has an intrinsic quality of
making people addicted to the ease by which the work is done. Thus, it
can be rightly said about it that the more you get familiar with technology,
the less satisfied you would be of your technological advancements.
Civil Engineering can benefit in this technology because computers
can be directed or commanded to perform high speed calculations.
In this light, the researcher would like to introduce the new software
called AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Statement of the Problem
Some civil engineers are still doing their work manually and in the
old fashion way, which is hard and time-consuming work. Today, it has
become imperative to look for fast and accurate ways of doing civil
engineering works.

REVIEW AND RELATED LITERATURE
A. Engineering Drawing
Engineering drawing (ED) is a technical subject which all
engineering or technical students are well aware of and have gathered
some. In this subject, students should reflect the objects before they can
disclose the views of the drawings on paper. The major problem that a
student of this subject encounters is visualization of the 3D objects kept
in front of them. The next problem faced by them is the complicate
representation of these three- dimensional objects on a paper. Another
problem that cant be ruled out is understanding ones representation
after the above two mentioned obstacles have been successfully
overcome.
The topics of Engineering Drawing are explained using the mental
visualization technique. For example, in orthographic drawing, students
are taught to mentally rotate an image to reflect the actual form of the
main view (top view, front view and side view). The ability of visualization
is an important cognitive skill in engineering, especially in the ED because
it requires the ability of an individual's mind to see an object or symbol
and think in two or three dimensions. Visualization is the mental
manipulation of the object and parts of the object in two dimensions and
three dimensions. This would mean that a person with a not so sharp
mental visualization wont be able to accumulate a better knowledge of
this subject.
Over the time, the researchers have stressed that the students can
solve the problems more efficiently if they are aided with technology.
A. AutoCAD Electrical
AutoCAD Electrical is AutoCAD software for controls designers,
purpose-built to create and modify electrical control systems. It contains
all the functionality of AutoCAD, the worlds leading CAD software, plus a
comprehensive set of electrical-specific features and functions that offer
significant productivity gains. AutoCAD Electrical offers control engineers
a competitive edge by helping save hours of effort, so they can spend
more time innovating.
The software has a special feature of automatic wire numbering and
component tagging. This feature helps in saving a lot of time which
otherwise would have been spent on assigning wire numbers and
component tags. Also, the errors inherent during the process are reduced.
This numbering convention is flexible enough to meet nearly any design
requirement.
In addition, if AutoCAD Electrical determines that an inserted wire
number will bump into something, it automatically searches laterally
along the wire for a clear spot to place the wire number. If that fails, it
searches for a clear spot away from the wire. When it finds one, it places
the number and automatically draws a leader back to the wire. Other
options such as Real time coil and Contact Referencing, Real time error
checking and Electrical audit Report save a lot of time and work.
B AutoCAD Civil
The Autodesk civil engineering solution, made up of AutoCAD Civil
2009 software and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 software, provides civil
engineers, designers, drafters, technicians, and surveyors with targeted
solutions for a broad range of project types, including land development,
transportation, and environmental.
The goal of this document is to outline the fundamentals of road
design through corridors while focusing on the behavior and function of
assemblies and subassemblies. This paper explores the definitions and
terminologies behind points, links and shapes essential components for
corridor modelingand also addresses how subassemblies have the
capability to respond to super elevation parameters when modeling
CHAPTER III
METHODOLOGY
This chapter discusses different methods used by the researcher in
gathering information related to the study. It presents the research
instrument and data gathering.
Research Instrument:
The researcher will use the internet to gather information related to
the study with the help of few persons having the knowledge of AutoCAD
Civil 3D operation.
