Age Regulations
The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) state they rate films In
order to preserve their independence and to protect the younger
generation from seeing images unsuitable for themselves.
Age rating
Reason
This certificate is suitable for
ages 4 and over, although it is
impossible to know what may or
may not upset a young child.
Discrimination- unlikely to be
seen in a U rating unless it is
disapproved of.
Drugs- References to illegal
drugs are strictly forbidden.
Imitable behaviour- Antisocial
behaviour or potentially
dangerous behaviour must be
clearly disapproved of.
Language- Infrequent use of
very mild language, such as

Nudity- Occasional nudity with
no sexual context is permitted.
Sex- Very mild sexual behaviour
is permitted, such as kissing.
Threat- Scary or potential
uncomfortable confrontation such
as portrayed bullying must be
mild in order to avoid making a
child anxious about the issue.

Parental guidance
PG is fit for general viewing;
however some scenes may be
unsettling for young children.
This rating should not unsettle a
child ages eight or older.
Discrimination- Discriminatory
behaviour such as racism is
unlikely to be acceptable in a PG
film.
Drugs- References to drugs must
be inconsistent and have an antidrug message.
Imitable behaviour- There
cant be any potentially
dangerous behaviour
demonstrated in the film, if there
is it must be disproved.
Language- Mild bad language
only such as crap can be used if
it isnt directed at another person
and must be infrequent.
Nudity- Occasional nudity is
permitted with no sexual intent.
Sex- Very mild sexual behaviour,
such as kissing.
Threat- Scenes where
characters are placed in danger
should not be intense or
prolonged. Such as being
provoked by bullies.
