Tips and Resources for choosing the School:

1. Start early.
The application process for graduate school can be lengthy, start at least six
months prior.
2. Start broadly.
Begin with a list of 15 to 20 schools, if possible, and do some initial research
on each.
3. Create a spreadsheet and narrow down the list.
Make a compare and contrast spreadsheet. You'll likely discover programs
and schools that are of much greater interest
4. Research specific curricula and courses.
Check out the programs catalog. The variety of courses available and the
diversity of offerings will help you begin to see where you might fit.
5. Talk to current students and alumni.
Create a list of a few questions for both students and alumni. Ask around to
find currently enrolled or recently graduated individuals. Contact them and
request a few minutes of their time. Ask them to be completely candid with
you.

Strategies and Resources to prepare standardized tests:

1. No last minute preparation.
Preparing on test day is an absolute no-no, start at least months prior.
2. Make a study plan.
Make daily, weekly, monthly schedule to study and review the progress.
3. Learn how your score will be influenced by guessing.
Some standardized tests, such as the GRE, discourage random guessing by
subtracting a portion of the number of your incorrect answers from the total
number of questions you get correct.
Other tests, however, simply count your total number of correct answers. On
these tests, guessing actually could help you.
4. Find a mentor, study partner, or course.
Having feedback and practice partner are very helpful to improve skills.
