IRC:SP:69-2005 GUIDELINES & SPECIFICATIONS FOR EXPANSION JOINTS 1.2 The initial draft of the guidelines was prepared by the previous IRC Committee of B-5 and its short comings were discussed by the newly constituted B-5 Committee in its first meeting held on 20% May, 2003. It was noted that MoSRTH has issued guidelines on expansion joints and that considerable experience has been gained from the performance of modern ‘expansion joints installed in the NHDP and other projects. Therefore, the B-5 Committee constituted a Sub Committee on 208 May, 2003 itself for updating the initial draft prepared by previous committee and incorporate suggestions made by members in the light of experience ‘gained in the field. The Sub Committee constituted hhad the following members: AK. Banerjee (Convenor) Ajay K Gupta Sudip Chaudhury (Member Secretary) RS. Ninan - ‘VP. Deshpande P.C. Bhasin ‘Shantanu Mazumdar Shri A.N. Dhodapkar and Shri Rajender ‘Kumar attended the Sub Committee meetings and provided needful inputs from the Ministry. 13. The Sub Committee prepared revised draft, which was discussed in several meetings of the B-S Committee and the draft ‘Guidelines and ‘Specifications for Expansion Joints! was finalised bby the B-5 Committee in its fifth meeting held on 11© September, 2004. The draft guidelines was approved by the Bridges Specifications and ‘Standards Committee in its meeting held on 20* December, 2004. The document was considered by the IRC Council in its 175% meeting held on 22% May, 2005 at Shillong and approved with certain modifications. ‘The required modifications were accordingly carried by the Convenor, B-6 Committee before sending the document for publication,
