LAYING OF FIBER OPTIC CABLES: Fiber optic cables shall be laid together with medium voltage cable in the underground distribution system for a scheme connecting the two sub- stations, Contractor strictly to adhere the procedure and the dimensions of the cable trench specified in the under ground construction standard (SDCS-02). Fiber optic cable of 96 cores of type “ non metallic direct buried “ shall be laid along with the medium voltage cables as shown in the drawing nos. 1,2 & 3. ! At the end of fiber optic cable, contractor should leave a loop of 25 meter inside the primary sub station and hang this to any wall near to the termination point of 13.8 KV cable, For a unit sub-station, contractor should leave 5 meter fiber optic cable loop and hang at any wall near to the side of 13,8KV cable termination. SAFETY INES FOR PLACING FIBER OPTIC CABLE : While laying the fiber optic cable, contractor has to abide precautionary measures to avoid the damaging the cable by making sharp bends, crushing the cable and ‘excessive pulling of the cable which may change the transmission characteristics of fiber. 8.2 PULLING PROCEDURES OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE It is important that all personnel who are engaged in the laying work shall be familiar with the fiber optic cable laying practices. Contractor should follow the international standard procedure for pulling fiber optic cable. Fig 4 which shaws correct and incorrect method of pulling. 4. LAYING DUCT WITH LV POWER CABLE Duct HDPE of size 50mm diameter complete with a pla: : under the LV power cable as shown in the Fig.5,6 & 7 rope inside, shall be laid Fig. 8, shows the arrangement of duet together with a plastic rope inside for pulling, i purpose. There should be one cap at the end of cach duct to prevent entering of the water, Fig 9, specifies the details of placing the ducts at the consumer prc!
