San Bruno couple admits to burglaries
A San Bruno couple pleaded no contest Monday to
charges of felony residential and commercial burglaries
committed in 2015 and 2016 in a case that involved driving
a car at a San Mateo police officer, according to the San
Mateo County District Attorneys Office.
Saliq Calloway, 23, and Maria King, 33, were arrested in
January 2016 during an attempted residential and car bur-
glary, and had been accused of other crimes.
King pleaded no contest to additional charges of felony
assault for driving a car at a San Mateo police officer at the
time of her arrest and was sentenced to three years of super-
vised probation Monday. She agreed to one year in the
county jail but, with credit for time served, will not have to
serve additional time in jail, according to prosecutors.
The two were arrested in January 2016 as Calloway
attempted to break into an occupied home in San Mateo and
King tried to break into a nearby vehicle. An officer
responding to the homeowners call saw King rummaging
in the vehicle and asked her to stop. King ignored his
request, got into another vehicle and drove at the officer.
Calloway fled the scene using a taxi and was apprehended
later, according to prosecutors.
The couple admitted to at least one other residential bur-
glary in San Mateo, and Calloway pleaded no contest to
charges of commercial burglary for stealing a tent from a
