Description: The goal of the fake news detection is to explore how


artificial intelligence technologies, particularly machine learning and
natural language processing, might be leveraged to combat the fake
news problem. We believe that these AI technologies hold promise for
significantly automating parts of the procedure human fact checkers use
today to determine if a story is real or hoax.
Nature of project : General

1. What novelty do you see in the purposed research/project work by
the students?
The purposed work is considered to be a major issue of todays news
industry. Even though the novelty of research is high, the purposed work
is a good step towards solving the Fake News Problem.

2. Is it feasible to carry out the purposed work with the Facilities
available in-house? If yes, please mention how the research/project
work shall be carried out?
Yes, Assessing the veracity of a news story is a complex and
cumbersome task. Fortunately, the process can be broken down into
steps or stages, and with the assistance of AI technologies, a good stance
detection solution will allow a human fact checkers to enter a claim or
headline and instantly retrieve the top articles that relates to the
question.



3. Mention the research gap that the purposed project work intends to
fill?
The purposed work will design a stance detection which involves
estimating the relative perspective of two pieces of text relative to a
topic, which is, the task of estimating the stance of a body text from a
news article relative to a headline.
4. What are the expected research/outcomes from the proposal
submitted by the students?
Expected outcomes from the proposal submitted by the student is to
design a stance detection system which would tentatively estimate the
relative perspective of a claim or headline and news story, by which, the
system can further categorize the claim as being true or false.
