12, San Isidro Sto. Nio, South Cotabato. The purpose of our research is to identify which

packaging of Milo is more practical to buy in terms of weight content and prices.
III. Introduction

This page explains the background of our research problem, states a set of specific research

questions, hypothesis and the connection of the purposes of our research questions not only with

the current world condition but also with the theoretical principles that underlined our topic.

Milo /malo/ is a chocolate and malt powder that is mixed with hot or

coldwater or milk to produce a beverage popular in many parts of the world. Produced by Nestl,

Milo was originally developed by Thomas Mayne inSydney, Australia, in 1934.[1] It is marketed

and sold in many countries around the world.

Most commonly sold as a powder in a green tin, often depicting various sporting

activities, Milo is available as a premixed beverage in some countries, and has been subsequently

developed into a snack bar and breakfast cereal. Its composition and taste differ in some

countries.

Milo is manufactured by evaporating the water content from a thick syrup at reduced

pressure. The thick opaque syrup is obtained from malted wheat or barley. The whole process

takes around an hour but operates in a continuous mode. At the bottom of the box the varying

sized chunks of soft solid, from fist size to fine powder, fall from the last conveyor into an

airlock where they are brought back to atmospheric pressure. The solid is introduced into

a hammer mill where it is broken up into the final granular form. Milo brand is the worlds

leading chocolate malt beverage that can be prepared with hot or cold milk or water. Given its

popularity it is a must have product for food service operators particularly in Asia, Africa and
Oceania. Loved and trusted by parents and kids alike, Milo products offer essential vitamins and

minerals:

calcium for strong teeth and bones

iron to carry oxygen to the bodys cells

vitamin A for healthy eye sight

vitamins B1 and B2 to help release energy from foods

Vitamin C to keep skin and gums in good shape.

This study will be conducted to determine the practical packaging of Milo in terms of weight

content and its price.

Specifically, this study soughs to answer the questions:

1. What packaging of Milo is more practical to buy??

2. What is the difference in the price considering the mass of each package?

This study is significant especially to the consumers or parents who have children who are fond

of drinking Milo for it gives them an idea what/which packaging of Milo is more practical to

buy to have additional savings in their budget.

This study has been conducted at the sari-sari store of Sto.Nio. With the support of

interview at the Barangay San Isidro,Sto.Nio, South Cotabato. By this study we found out that

there is a difference about Milo in terms of weight content and price.

IV. Related Literature

In 1934, Australian industrial chemist and inventor Thomas Mayne developed Milo and

launched it at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.[2] Milo began production at the plant located

inSmithtown, near Kempsey on the North Coast of New South Wales. The name was derived

from the famous ancient athlete Milo of Croton, after his legendary strengt Milo is added to hot

or cold water and/or milk to make a malted chocolate beverage. It does not dissolve readily in

cold milk, and so retains the gritty texture of its raw state. Milo can be stirred into steamed milk

to make a drink akin to hot chocolate or cocoa. Another possible use is making a normal cup of

cold Milo and microwaving it for approximately 4060 seconds. This gives the Milo drink a

biscuity cover on top.[citation needed] Use of very hot water when making a Milo drink can also alter

the taste somewhat as will re-heating a made-up drink which has gone cold.

Milo is sometimes sprinkled on ice cream or breakfast cereals. Milo is often the favoured

beverage for the Tim Tam Slam.[4]

Also very popular is the "Magic Milo" which involves adding Milo to a small amount of

milk with sugar and whipping it to increase the amount of air in the milk, thereby doubling it in

size. Then one adds small amounts of hot water and milk in layers stirring each new layer

vigorously to maintain its lightness. A final layer of whipped cream is then topped with extra

Milo or chocolate sprinkles. This is more of a 'warm' beverage rather than a 'hot' one and is a

more popular version of hot Milo for children.

In the market, Milo is sold in different packages such as in 22g.-P7.00, 80g.-P52.00,

300g.-P117.00, and 1kg.-P267.00.

V. Method

This section explains the types and sources of our data as well as the procedure owe use in

collecting and analyzing the data we have gathered.

First, we prepared our questionnaire and materials.

Second, we planned about the locale of our study.

Third, we did some interview from sari-sari store about the price.

Fourth, we encode all the answers of our respondents.

big size of milo.

Materials- notebook, ball pen, calculator, camera
