Book Review: "The Invisible Wound by Karoly Kisfaludi"

The invisible wound is a short story by Hungarian author Karoly Kisfaludi. The story follows a rich man suffering from mysterious pains in his hands caused by his guilt for killing his innocent wife out of jealousy and suspicion she was having an affair. As the only one who knows the man's secret, the surgeon is curious about the cause of his pain. While reading the story, the reviewer was deeply moved, crying by the halfway point when the man's terrible deed is revealed. The story illustrates the lesson that people should not make rash decisions in anger without fully thinking things through, as it can lead to terrible regrets. The reviewer enjoyed the story and its lessons, recommending others read it as well.

Book Review
The Invisible Wound by Karoly Kisfaludi

The invisible wound, a story written by Karoly Kisfaludi, who

was a great pioneer in modern Hungarian literature. Though
Karoly is chiefly celebrated as a dramatist, he managed, during
his brief and adventurous life, to write some extraordinary short
tales. He was, in the words of a Hungarian critic, "a thorough
Bohemian, of a dreamy yet light-hearted disposition." A classic
writer, The Invisible Wound comprises most of the elements
required by the strictest critics for the composition of a short
story, and yet it conveys that indescribable quality of vitality that
seems to persist in all art, regardless of rules and theories.
The genre of this story would be Tragedy, because it shows
drama based on human suffering that invokes an accompanying
catharsis or pleasure in audiences.
CONTEXT
The man- he was rich and suffering to a mysterious illness.
The surgeon - the one who conducted the operation to the
man, and the only one who knew the mans secret.
The mans wife- she was the faithful companion of the
countess. The one who kept the bundle of letters.
The countess- the true owner of the letter.

The story has the continuous struggle of the protagonist

because of the pain he experiencing on the palm of his hands,
this pain was cause by personal guilt that he kill his own wife
because of envy and speculation that his wife was having an
affair to another man.

I love the story so much. While reading the story, I was like
the surgeon who was curious of why the man feels so much pain.
But by the half end of it, tears fell from my eyes because it was
really sad that he killed his wife, his innocent wife. Lesson learned
was Don't make decision without thinking thoroughly, especially

when you're angry because it could lead you to doing something

terrible and you could regret it for the rest of your life.
When in youre in a relationship, the persons involved must be
open to each other. No secret. No lies. I would love to read more
from this author and I would gladly recommend people to read
this story because it is great and has lessons that can influence
many people too.
