Working time for the task: 5 weeks
Total marks: 100 marks
Weighting: 25% of the school mark

The creation of a graphic image involves the use of photographs or drawings which are altered
with the use of computer software. Artistic image development and manipulation is creative and
imaginative, producing images that are unexpected, visually appealing, surreal, striking,
humorous or eye-catching in some way. Photographs are modified to develop magazine covers,
page layouts, and album or book covers. Multiple images are often combined to create a
juxtaposition, collage or unique image.

Description of the task:

This task involves a number of different stages. You are required to research,
practice, exploring and developing a graphic image using a range of
technological tools.
Be creative!
1. Explore, analyse and compare Raster v/s Vector graphics. Use 5 images
for each format from the Internet to compare Raster and Vector graphics
You are required to comment on the following:

Resolution/size
Describe the image selected: What elements were used?
Final differences: Explain, describe the main differences between
Raster and Vector

2. Use Adobe Photoshop for your own practice part of the project. You are
required to submit the best work done in this software. It may include:

Short exercise: patterns using the wave filter, overlay mode, etc
Girls face
Man with glasses
Angelina image
Own tutorial

3. Use Adobe Illustrator for your own practice part of the project. You are
required to submit the best work done in this software. It may include:
25 Marks
Use of mesh tool - Boot
Man with glasses
Shapes
Hip hop

4. Final graphic. You may select Photoshop or Illustrator to create your final
image. It could be any image or topic; you are required to apply a creative,
appealing and eye catching approach. You need to use the graphic tablet,
use your photographs or drawing (sketches) and make sure it is the best
resolution on an A3 size paper.
