Forced Oscillation

The document discusses forced oscillations of a mechanical system modeled by a differential equation. The forcing function F(t) is a periodic function with period 2π. The steady state response has large oscillations that could damage the system. The forcing function is modified using a Fourier series to prevent large oscillations in the steady state response. The Fourier coefficients are calculated, and the normal modes and their amplitudes are determined by solving the differential equation for the steady state response of each normal mode.
